"This place is classic. It's a little shack on the highway serving really tasty food. Service is exceptionally good. Real cheddar cheese on beef burgers. Homemade fries and rings. We will be back every time we go to Algonquin!"

"The Portage Store Restaurant is not just a restaurant. but an institution. I have been there many times over the years since the old Portage Store was torn down after the 1954 season and a new restaurant added as part of the new Portage Store in 1955. Whether it be a meal before or after a Canoe Trip or on one of the rainy days getting away from a soggy campground.The Portage Store Restaurant was always welcoming. I remember sitting and watching many canoes come and go from the docks below and even a bear across the bay. This review is a summary of my many visits over many years."

"This has to be one of the best places north of Minden to eat and stay make it a destination trip and you will not be dissatisfied. Last week we had the chance to stay and eat for a couple of days while snowmobiling, both the service and food was first class. Owning and operating a large scale accommodation and food service ourselves down south, it is great to see such a nice boutique operation set in some of the prettiest landscape you could ask for. We could not ask for better service or food. Great job to the owners of the OX for raising the bar, I am sure you are well on your way to becoming one of the best destinations in Northern Ontario. "Two of us drove for an hour to try out this highly acclaimed Chip Truck operation called "Delightful Temptations".The operation is BRAND NEW as of mid-May 2016, and is owned and operated by Kim. an experienced Chef and restaurant owner for many years.Kim's focus at "Delightful Temptations" is to provide exceptional value to all of her customers, by offering great tasting food at very affordable prices.Her French Fries are hand-crafted, and it was easy to tell that she uses only the BEST potatoes.A Small order of French Fries were LARGE in size, and even larger in flavour. YUMMMMM! And the price was just $2.75 Wow!We also ordered Cheeseburgers, and they were tender and juicy and so full of flavour. The burgers come with fried onions on top, too. Make sure you get some serviettes, because these burgers are JUICY!We could not have been more impressed with the Great Tastes and low prices.The good folks at the Ministry of Natural Resources recently placed a 20-meal order here.It is no wonder that it is getting rave reviews by word-of-mouth.And when it comes to being a truly nice person, Kim is a wonderful example.The Chip Truck is located right by Stanhope Airport in the Algonquin Highlands. just off HWY 118 East, about 10 minutes east of the town of Carnarvon.Open from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. closed on Tuesdays "
