"Had a dessert of apple crumble and custard the custard was cold to the extent it was congealed and the crumble topping was like eating just flour it wasn’t even crumble. I would come back for drinks only but won’t be eating there again"

"After a fabulous afternoon at The Fig Pie Wakes with friends we finished off with a great meal at The Swan. Between us we had halloumi fries and home made nachos, both were delicious and very generous portions. We all had Chicken Kyiv with a creamy sauce, served with bubble and squeak and green beans, absolutely fabulous, succulent chicken and beautifully cooked accompaniments. The service is always great, we had a lovely chat with Emma who had rolled her first fig pie that afternoon. We are so lucky to have The Swan as our local, it never disappoints."

"I have also reviewed this on the hotel page but felt I needed to reiterate it here. The menu was very limited, not what is advertised on the hotel website. The options were chicken, cod or vegetarian!!! The food was over cooked and ready in minutes. Obviously prepared in volume. Not worth the money. We ate out four time that weekend and this was the worst food we had, and we were at table table for one of those."

"I have been a customer for around years and I used to like coming here at the weekend for coffee and cake. I have gripes, first, the queuing system is not great, quite often at busy times they can't cope with the volume...of customers, but that's always been the case, possibly a victim of its own success. I was not too bothered about that though, as long as you get what you are there for, can sit down and enjoy it with the person you're with, it's the price that you pay. Now this brings me to my next problem, I like the chilled coffee at Costa and there has been such a wide variation, from a cup of tasteless froth that settled to a third of a cup to an insipid looking cup of coloured water with ice cubes or maybe the almost' right one with small lumps of ice that are a perfect size for blocking the straw. These three aren't singular isolated instances, but in the last year, it's rare that they have produced anything like an enjoyable drink, the only constant is that they have all disappointed. My third gripe is that I am with my wife, paying a lot of money to sit down and have a chat, people watch and relax, the fact that I have an employee dragging tables around next to me, making a noise, sweeping and making me feel uncomfortable for being there an hour before closing time is the final straw. I have stopped using this establishment. It's a shame because the location is great, but everything could be so much better."

"We hired Culinary Craft to provide a meal for 32 people. It was stress free as they brought all the food to us and even took away the washing up! We had hot pot with crust bread and a beautiful orange cheesecake. Everyone said how much they loved it and nothing was too much trouble in terms of service."

"Good, clean hotel with good facilties. Staff very friendly and helpful. One downside i had was the shower flooded bathroom floor within 2 minutes of running. The drain smell was then awful. The whole corridor (2nd floor at the very end) was even worse in terms of smell. A shame as rest of hotel was good and no other corridors i walked through had this issue. To add i did inform reception of the issue, she seemed surprised although i do now note another visitor has commented the same issue from a week ago. I would stay again if passing."
