"Cook your food right on your table. Looking for a different dining experience that is fun and unique, and best enjoyed with friends or family? Although a small chain (30 restaurants; most in Southern California) this Gyu-Kaku in East Village did not feel like part of chain, rather it has a positive atmosphere of authenticity and ethnicity. At Gyu-Kaku, THE experience is cooking your food at your table. There is a small gas-fired grill in the center of your table. We ordered the Kandou Course which was plenty for the four of us. Typically this costs $150; order before 6:00 pm for the 'Happy Hour ' pricing and the cost lowers to $120. The Kandou has a nice mix of meats (which are amazingly tender), veggies, and noodles. There are also dumplings, peppers, mushrooms, and make your own s 'mores for dessert. If you don 't mind a little 'work ' with your fun, this restaurant offers a nice change of pace from the ordinary."
