"A long time had passed since we were last in Le Patio; so long that we could not recall the quality of the dining. So on this midi pass-thru of the village, we stopped in for lunch. We expected a midi menu or formule with an appropriate price listed, but were handed the regular menu [more for the dinner or large lunch] and those prices stunned. When we asked if they had a midi special, the waiter politely said, "of course; as posted outside...", and then proceeded to explain our choices. We chose the entree+plat.I went back out into the cold, through the charming patio and to the sidewalk where, yes, we had walked right past the small chalkboard placed under the permanent menu board. There were our options and the price, the extras, and the glass of wine which was part of the price. The price was high for a normal midi, but then, with a well-matched wine, that price would be satisfactory. I rejoined my companion and we began a superb meal, finely crafted in presentation, textures, gôut, and even temperatures.... and the wine was from the next village and fit perfectly. The entree was an assiette degustation of three hors d'oeuvres -- brandade, salade verte with terrine de taureau, tapenade -- and a timbale of crab bisque. This was followed by a main dish consisting of an interesting and tasty feuilletée d'agneau, soufflé of aubergine, polenta, and fenouil. Very nice !When I received the bill, I was surprised to be charged for the wine. A polite discussion about the small chalkboard followed and the waiter returned to the kitchen for answers [it was past closing, the chalkboard had been retrieved by the staff, the chef was gone]. All things were resolved; mistakes had been made; yet our service, the preparation and taste of our food we will remember well for a long time.We recommend Le Patio and the creations from the cuisine of Catherine and Jean-Pierre."
