"Platanos Restaurant opened on 1979 in the historical Platanos square, between the perennial Hippocrates tree, Lotzias mosque, the Italian headquarter and the ancient agora. It has been accommodated in an old Italian building of 1935's that during the Italian domination used to be, Officers Club and it has been renovated recently. From early in the morning on the ancient agora view side, long drinks, coffees and sweets are served. On the other part where you can see Hippocrates tree you can taste dishes, always based on fresh raw materials, seafood, meat and vegetables from our Mediterranean and Greek creative kitchen. Kitchen opens from 12 o'clock in the evening for lunch. During the night you can enjoy your dinner except downstairs also on the ‘’secret balcony’’ with the panoramic view of ancient Agora and Neratzia Castle. Dinner is served accompanied by live music. Except dinner you can enjoy till late your drink or a cocktail always with the quality that Platanos is known about ."

"The food is unbelievable here. Only place that we ate twice. The mussels and steak are highly recommended. Service was also fantastic."

"They advertise themselves as home cooking and that is basically what this restaurant is so keep that in mind when you order food, junk food cooked like in a home kitchen, portions are big and so for example eating their hamburger and not get your hands dirty is physically impossible. Some of the dishes were a bit burned. Soup was very tasty. There is background music and all the seats are very comfortable. Amongst the trees this is a pretty cozy location. The prices are pretty cheap like many street restaurants in Kos. Would not go there again."

"Amazingly authentic eating that is not overpriced tourist! owner is really honest and friendly! at the day before we actually ate here, we were looking for a fresh fish dish, said the owner, he could do it, but had no suitable fresh fish, only frozen and would never try to pass it as fresh. He told us when we told him what we want him to bring it fresh for us tomorrow. we asked for sea bass and the next day we had grilled the most amazing fresh sea bass to perfection. (we also had the stuffed tomato and pfeffer, which was also amazing) also for all English out there, the chips he serves are the next fresh cut, actually roasted (not often cooked) chips that I found outside a chippy in england! brings most pubs in Great Britain to shame!"
