"Excellent brunch, parfais to take forces before a walk on Mount Royal. Last time, we went there at about 10:30 with my blonde, the queue doesn't fade and we understand why after the meal. Be patient, about 20 minutes of waiting for us, it's a little longer for larger groups, but it's really worth it;) it's very hearty, a fresh fruit skewer served us every time waiting for our order, and it's very appreciated. the setting is pleasant, the service to the top and it is delicious! What more? I love!!!"

"I met a friend here for brunch on a Saturday morning at 10:00am. The line was very long and it didn't move quickly. I am so glad we waited though. The inside is super cute and fun. The food was delicious. The service was great even though the place was packed. Definitely want to go back to try some other things on the menu, but will go earlier for sure."

"A fun place to have a casual meal. The best part is you either bring your dog or just visit with other diners dogs. The food is tasty; we had a grilled cheese sandwich and a beet burger and both came with a salad. The menu is limited but there is still enough variety. It was cute to see the three or four dogs that were in there enjoying playing with one another."

"The best small plates in town. A daily menu seems to be prepared by someone with a love for food. The beer, of course, is delectable as well. Prices and staff are unassuming. There may be a wait time for a table in weekends but I assure you it is well worth it."

"We bopped in for a time-kill coffee and something small and sweet. It was in that nether region of time: just before dinner but well after lunch, and we needed a place to hang out before meeting up with friends who were still at work. Enter Arts Cafe. Or, we did anyway. It was just around the corner from where I had an apartment a long time ago. I was thinking it was the same Arts Cafe as when I lived there, but it was clearly a different place. The decor, the mood, it was so much more thoughtful and cool, but still very neighborhood-friendly. It’s MileEnd, not Old Montreal. Anyway, I was hoping to get a croissant, though I guessed that it was too late in the day for that. The server told us that they never have croissants - just goodies that are made on the premises. I order an Earl Gray tea, my partner a cafe. And then I entertained ordering the cookie but was turned off by the mention of 'spice' in it. So opted for the only chocolate thing available, a plain-Jane looking tarte. I hate pie and especially pie crust, but needed a little buzz that I thought I could just eat the top off and leave the crust and maybe that would help.My partner took one look at the serving on my plate and refused it. Sent it back. Would not pay for something so ordinary and small. I wasn't all that thrilled about fighting for pie. The server told the owner and the owner came to talk to us about it. About the pie. Which I hate. He described the ingredients that went into the chocolate part. Layers of rich chocolate, layers of caramel something or other, and infused with whatsit? I held up my hand to stop him --- he'd successfully made the sale to me. I was on board. Like any chocoholic worth her salt, I bit in. And then I swooned. Lovely, dense but not kill-you-dead chocolate. All kinds of special and subtle tastes of other stuff that packed a punch on my tastebuds. Absolutely top-grade, grade-A, grand poo-bah chocolate goodness. I then started drinking my tea. Amazing. Stupid old Early gray tea that you can now get just about anywhere in North America except for a bunch of Mexican restaurants in Chicagoland. But this Earl gray was delicious. What a great cup. What an amazing second cup.I'm in such a good mood by this time, that I even deigned to eat a crumb of the crust. And ... you've guessed it ... I fell in love with the crust. This little simple looking pie and here I am writing paragraphs about it. That's how much a punch it packed in my mouth. The owner came by to discuss. Yes, to discuss the pie a second time with me. He asked me what he could do to make it attractive to nuisances like me. Pie-fickle. Pie-phobic. You know what I hate? I asked the owner. I hate it when croissants have either powdered sugar on them or chocolate sauce drizzled over the top. If you have to do that to a croissant, you’ve LOST ME. He said he agreed and then told me about going out to a top restaurant and ordered an expensive pie for dessert and the crust being store-bought, not at all homemade. The taste he serves in the Arts Cafe is the kind of tarte he wants to eat. We were meeting friends elsewhere so could not stay for dinner to taste the savory aspects of the arts Cafe, but trust me. This chef has an amazing palette and sense of style. You will not go wrong plunking down in his cafe and eating anything he’s created. I will be returning. It’s been a week since I went there but I’m still today thinking about what he might possibly do to make his chocolate tart more attractive to the haters. Aside from perhaps putting plastic army men on top (hey, a great conversation starter), I think the only way is to talk a lot using as many words as one can to urge everyone reading this review that you need to go there now."
