"Bottom line, we didn't even get a chance to eat in this restaurant because we went out during the ordering process. We wanted to ask if they could take 25 people. You said yes, but please know that the cook is only coming at 5:00.... No problem, we thought we were going over 4:45 and set our orders, we were not in a hurry. They had 2 tables ready for us, We sat 12 teenage girls at one table and the 10 parents at another. Just mentioning the restaurant was empty. We sat and started ordering. I noticed that the waitress who took the girl orders was very impatient and snatching with them. Then it was time for the adults to order. A parent on our table asked if we could have two pitchers of beer? *Note: He only asked because they had a sign advertisement Friday night pitcher of beer (it was Friday night) The waitress reacted We have no beer. So another parent responded to our table that you advertised it? What happened next, I can tell you I never saw in a restaurant in my life. The waitress started screaming and saying that we did a favor to you by setting up these tables for you and accepting your reservation. What? Sorry, what?! Did you do us a favor? She told us that we should be grateful that they accepted our reservation request and that we should go! Believe me if I tell you we don't need the invitation to leave! We had already begun to leave the door. When we left, she continued to defend her behavior. In the end we went to their competition and gave them $500 worth of business."

"My 16 year old son and I tried this restaurant on Sat Feb 21st as we had a Groupon voucher .It was to be his initiation to Portuguese food .This is the kind of place you are hoping not to be disappointed with as you get the sense it's run by nice, down to earth people ...more family oriented than big business .Although the lights were quite bright and there were only 3 other tables occupied , we were optimistic .My intent isn't to trash this place but as it turned out not too many things went right and had I paid the full cost which was apparently $82 instead of $39 from Groupon, I would have been extremely upset !I would have raised a real stink and demanded compensation or more food !!!!!!Despite the small number of diners , service was extremely slow and sporadic .Upon arrival, it took maybe 5 minutes before the server acknowledged our presence and even longer before he brought us water and bread .I was never asked if I wanted a drink either and had to chase him down to ask what wine was available by the glass. To start things off , the bread was stale ...a precursor of things to come and to me something that is totally unacceptable in a place that is supposed to be somewhat upscale .In the Groupon advertisement , there were a number of photos illustrating the food portions ...all of which were significantly larger than what we actually received .I went to the owner with a photo from my cell phone and asked why the difference was so drastic ...the advertisement vs .actual and he blamed Groupon for posting larger portions !!!!The first course was a soup....very tasty, except for the fact that it was warm and not hot at all.The second course was a taster ( Tapas )of shrimp, cod and octopus which once again wasn't bad but there just wasn't enough and guess again .....not hot!!!!!! .There was ONE shrimp...ONE small piece of octopus and one small piece of cod .We ate this appetizer in a nanosecond. When the main course arrived, which I was hoping would be a larger portion than the appetizers ( NOT), it was once again warm and not hot .The braised beef tasted as though they were leftovers...but was still flavourful and although the chicken was very tasty and juicy, it was not hot . My son told me that it was the best chicken he had ever tasted so it was just too bad there wasn't more of it !!!!!.This was the only item of food which stood out although it was once again just warm .Accompanying the beef and chicken was a very small serving of rice in a seasoned tomato sauce which was very ordinary......no veggies at all . We wrapped up the dinner with a dessert of pears , cubed and smothered in a liqueur based syrup which wasn't bad at all.One thing I have to say is that they give a generous glass of wine for $7 and the waiter even gave me a half glass on the house .In fairness as well I was asked several times if I liked the food and responded with " it is OK ".........I did not want to make a scene !!!When I dine out and am not happy with service or the quality of food served, I will immediately bring it to the attention of the restaurant . What held me back on this night was my son and I didn't want to ruin the evening by confronting someone who obviously thought that what they were serving was worth $82!!!!!! I suspect that this place is a hit or miss most of the time .The people who run it are nice but I'm guessing that if they feel it will not be a big night they will coast and serve leftovers as opposed to cooking fresh ...ie: stale bread ( and I love Portuguese bread as well!!!!!! )I later googled reviews about this place and there were definitely more unflattering than complimentary ones so there seems to be a pattern here .My disappointment was that I really wanted my son to experience good Portuguese food and it really came up short .As a result I will never return nor recommend this place to anyone ....and if I want great chicken .....Romados is right around the corner on Rachel for a fraction of the price !!!!!!!!"
