"For a couple of years, this has been our go-to Fish Chips takeout. We like the lightly battered halibut, crisp fresh cut fries, and excellent coleslaw (crisp and not too creamy). Friendly staff and quick service. Fairly large menu for those looking for something...else, and a nice dining room for those who prefer to stay. Clean and attractively decorated. No greasy smell like some of its competitors. Two halibut, 1 chips, 1 large coleslaw totaled $35."

The fact is the flavors and tastes are spectacular, the service while at times can be slow once has to understand that everything is made from scratch. if you want fast food go to McDonald but if you want quality home made food with great taste, sit back, have a drink and then enjoy!!"

"We ordered for takeout on a Friday evening during Lent. It was a complete zoo. HahaI called my order ahead and they told me it would be ready when I got there. Ordered 3 fish n chips (haddock), 1 grilled salmon and 1 cod. When I arrived, people were packed in like sardines (pun intended). It was an indication of their popularity. I waited upwards of 15 minutes to get my order, despite calling ahead.When I got home, I discovered they gave us 4 haddock and the sides for the salmon were wrong. No cod. That diner was disappointed as they were really in the mood for cod but said it was fine. The rest of us really enjoyed the meal. Yes, it was "just fish n'chips," but you can easily screw up fish. It was crippy batter and moist fish. Fries were thick and perfect for vinegar. I wanted vegetables instead of rice with my salmon but it was just fine. I was trying to make a healthier choice.The cashier was a little curt with customers but I chalked it up to being a Friday in Lent and she just wanted to move customers along. The kitchen staff were all business. An assembly line of cooks, each responsible for something and the cashier even stepped in to pack meals, load and unload fries, while doing her job. She was a machine. You can tell she's worked there for a while and really knew her stuff. I'm sure if it wasn't so busy, they would have taken the extra few seconds to check the order.We'll definitely eat there again since both my children love fish. I love that they also sell British only confections. I gave up chocolate for Lent so I didn't get any then but will definitely next time."

"As an alternate to our regular place, we sometimes come to AJ's. It's good, it's fast. It's a bit different. All in all a good breakfast. We have not tried the lunch menu."
