"Great place to stay, the location is perfect. There's a lot to do. Eating was okay, the portions were pretty small and overpriced. The vegan breakfast was very small, there was only dry toast no butter, tomatoes, 2 moving mountains sausage, baked beans and mushrooms. They had no vegetable milk, so no cup of tea and no desserts suitable for vegans. Updated by previous review on 2021-06-14"

"Never been disappointed with a Wetherspoon’s yet and this one is no different. Always able to find a good meal and a drink at a reasonable fair price. Ate here on both nights of our visit to Buxton and despite being a little on the busy side we didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive. When it did it was well presented and hot. Wherever we visit we try to see if there is a Wetherspoons as we never have a problem finding a good meal without being ripped off."

"We have not been to the Wheatsheaf for a while now but really fancied a home cooked Sunday dinner. Then up popped a picture on Facebook showing the dinners and we couldnt resist. Booked a table with the family and we loved it. From my 5 year old to my mum (in her 80s but best not let the world know her actual age or Ill get told off) and we all demolished the lot. We will be back soon Food: 4"

"The starter we had was absolutely gorgeous (halloumi fries), however, the main was very disappointing. I had fish chips and my husband had southern fried chicken burger and both of them tasted like they weren’t made fresh but were frozen. The texture for both of them weren’t great! I also don’t know if it’s just the time we went (Sunday lunchtime), but there was only one staff member serving, which meant that service was rather slow at least until another staff member started their shift. Service was alright though."

"Great atmosphere with interesting decor. Lovely food, some of which reminded me of America and Germany--I had the Reuben sandwich (a NYC staple), and it was very tasty. The brisket is tender with great flavour, and I love seeing sauerkraut with so many dishes, as it mixes up the flavours and is quite good for you too! I'll be interested to try some of amazing-sounding beers when I'm no longer pregnant!"

"An absolute gem of a place. So cosy and inviting. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. But the food … well what can I say … absolutely amazing …!! The starters we had were so tasty and the main courses were just amazing. The menu has something for everyone, my husband had the Sunday dinner, it was superb, the bone marrow gravy was . Cannot wait to go back and try something different "

"I met my Chesterfield-based friends for tea as it’s a halfway point between there and Manchester. Menu items were fairly expensive- most of the starters cost nearly a tenner. I chose the Sticky Chic burger: while the halloumi bites had to be my favourite part, the accompanying salad and coleslaw were rather…limp. I liked the vibe of the restaurant, and service was warm. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals a lot, but largely based on the cost, I can’t say I’d hurry back."
