"We came to Chez Gaston for a cup of coffee and a quick bite to eat late morning. The place is stunning and has a really nice feeling to it but...and its a big but. The service is not what you would expect at such...a place. It started of with them having to see if there was room as we did not book...turned out that the place was not really busy but I suppose they are following protocol (unnecessary in my eye when its a big family and you are waiting at the entrance gate! . We ordered some coffee's, hot chocolates and 3 ham and cheese toasties and this must have taken around 20 odd minutes to have these served to us and when they were not a single one of our hot drinks was hot...we asked them about this and they said that it was due to their machine only being able to make two and a go...poor excuse as if this was the case they should have told us that they cant make 5 coffees and a hot chocolate in one go. Still the charm of the place is there and it certainly helps to make up for these simple things that they are missing out on. I's sure that they will soon have the staff up to scratch as they do aim to catch foreign tourists and they will demand the service and quality!"

"Very passable cuisine, better wine, but the waitress fell flat from the moment I walked in. (And I gave her the chance to apologise. How do I explain this? As someone with banking cards issued outside of this great country, my presence must have been confusing to her. Only after the meal had concluded was I told that sought to charge me an extra 10% based on a newfound presumption that any international card in my possession would be processed as a credit card (due to the fact that I'm not a home-grown Argentinian . However, one of my UK cards worked perfectly fine using her machine's debit card option, as it has done several hundred times before throughout my stay in Argentina, without the need for her to ruin my meal by being so confrontational about a 10% surcharge. Why do I even report this? So that other international guests don't fall into a trap. Take my advice: stand your ground, eat wisely, and wilfully defy any unapologetically unlawful ten per cent taxation. There are always other delicious options on your doorstep. Over and out."
