"Slow service but amazingly delicious and affordable food (you can make your dish a combo for an extra dollar or so). They offer vegetarian alternatives to most of their dishes too, make sure to ask if you have those dietary restrictions as they are more than happy to change your order accordingly. Their curry ramen is definitely recommendable, I've had it twice already!"

"Booked ahead for this Japanese 'gastro pub,' but on the day had a text to say there had been a tree fall that knocked out the till system, so cash only. Perhaps that's why it wasn't as crowded as we expected. In any case the atmosphere was still fun and the customary shouted greetings from behind the long bar and open kitchen drew you in. We sat at a high table for 4 near the back, but there are also long communal tables with wooden tree-stump stools. It's all very modern with lots of dark wood, including a mass of pendant lighting, but they take their food seriously and service is good. We ordered many different dishes to share from the menu and the daily news sheet. Nearly all good, some excellent! Stand outs were the seared tuna sashimi and the tempura shrimp. However we didn't rate the beef udon noodle dish. Shared pitchers of Sapporo beer. All very good value for money and a chorus of happy farewells as we left. Should also comment on the individual washrooms which are very thoughtfully equipped with a variety of products including q tips and mouthwash with little paper cups!"

"So many options and delicious flavours to choose from I was quite impressed even if service might have been a little slow that day."

"Average sushi. A bit overpriced considering it was not very interesting or impressive. But it’s probably because of the location. I was disappointed."

"My party went to SAKU for Summerlicious on a Tuesday evening. It was quite packed and there was a lineup in the doorway with customers on the side waiting to be called. At first the waitresses would greet those in line and let them know the wait time, afterward it took a couple minutes to flag down a waitress and I was a bit worried as I had a reservation and did not want to be skipped. After being seated down the waitress explained to us how the Summerlicious menu worked and we were given a couple minutes to decide what to order. They did reconfirm our order after we placed the order which was appreciated.I ordered the BC Tuna Salmon Tataki Salad which was really delicious and the fish tasted fresh. The yuzu pepper vinaigrette added a really good kick to each bite. Each member of my party ordered one special roll tacos. I would say I enjoyed the special roll (Ocean Dream) much more than the bulgogi taco. I ordered an Oreo Churros as my dessert and was a bit disappointed in the taste of it to end off the night. If given another opportunity I would have gone with either the Cheesecake or Dorayaki Sandwich.Atmosphere wise it is quite busy with moderate noise. The lightning dimmed midway through our meal so it was a bit hard to see even with all the deco light up. I would advise to be extra cautious going down the stairs to the bathroom as it looked like a dark tunnel going down with light at the bottom."

"This place is one of the Izakaya bar in Toronto which is very famous in Japan. The interior of this place will make you feel that you are in Tokyo especially the tables at the back of the bar where you are sitting on the floor...with your feet inside the opening underneath the table. We went there as a family celebrating my daughters birthday. It is a Saturday and the wait for the food to come is a little disappointment as it took forever but they were nice enough to apologize and gave us a couple of starters on the house. The food is great and mostly authentic,I know as I lived in Japan for 10 years.Overall, the experience is very nice!"

"Having spent a few hours enjoying plays at the Toronto Fringe Festival last Monday evening, we wandered down Bathurst Street to King Street to find a place to eat. It was good fortune that we turned left on King instead of right, otherwise we would have missed Blowfish on the northeast corner. This is a large restaurant with a typical Japanese minimalist décor - totally to our liking. In fact, they even promote their menu as Japanese Fusion. On a summer Monday evening it was fairly quiet with perhaps 15 diners, including ourselves. They were promoting their Summer Menu. At $35 for 3 courses it looked like a great deal so we ordered it. We were not disappointed! The salad was outstanding and set on a bed of thinly sliced watermelon. The next course was a plate of 4 pieces of sushi. I'm allergic to shrimp. No problem, they substituted something equally delectable. We both agreed it was some of the finest sushi we have ever tasted (and we eat Japanese fairly often.)! The main course was the fusion part of the meal - a favourite of mine, Branzino fillet. As is usually the case with Japanese dining, the presentation of each course was sensational. The service from Richelle was terrific, although chances are she may not have had the time to chat with us so much had we been there on a busy Friday night! Wine prices are a little steep at $14 for a 5oz glass (they also sell 3oz glasses) but that seems to be the norm in downtown restaurants in big cities. We had a delightful evening at Blowfish and highly recommend a visit to enjoy their Summer Menu."

"More or less a somewhat typical sushi place. There are some interesting creations here, but you are likely to leave feeling hungry despite having spent a decent amount of money."
