"Words cannot describe this place, right from the word go we were the first ones through the door and we were welcomed by several various members of staff which set the tone for the night! The waiters and waitresses were perfect all night along with the wine pourer giving bang on descriptions of each paring.. The food was outstanding and each dish literally took our breaths, compliments to all the chef and the team for making my birthday meal as perfect as could be! Fine fine dining just without the London prices! Perfect atmosphere and layout I can't fault anything!"

"We came to Birmingham for the Photography Show, which was sadly cancelled due to fears over the corona virus. Undaunted, we went ahead with our plans to find a really great Greek restaurant and wow! didn’t that go well! Ulysses serves authentic Greek food that is really well cooked. We chose traditional dishes that include ingredients such as garlic, cinnamon, oregano and olive oil, all of which are good for health. A truly fantastic meal! Sadly, due to fears over the virus, it seems that few people are venturing out the restaurant was extremely quiet. We had a wonderful meal and an interesting chat to the proprietor where we put the world to rights. We plan to return to Birmingham next year and we will definitely return to Ulysses. I hope everyone who reads this will support independent businesses like this. Don’t risk losing such gems."

"It is quite frightening to think that we almost lost this late Victorian masterpiece, built in 1901 for mitchell and butlers, about 20 years ago, when it was under threat of demolition. the imposing building, dominated by its striking large tower, deserves to be in the middle of birmingham city centre and not out here to see something of different road and city renewal projects of doubtful merit. but it is the inner of this pub that justifies finding the 51 bus service to the north. probably the best surviving example of the victoriana pub opulence with some of the most beautiful wall tile work I have ever seen in a pub and that is before it to the glass panes, mosaic flooring, original snob screens and bell pushes and the striking staircase. the interieur is so good that one would even drink a pint of john smith's smooth crawl, but the fact that since 2003 it has been in the possession of oakhams and there is a decent selection at its and guest-ales, which makes almost the perfect drinking experience from the various banks of three hand pumps scattered around the island bar counter. for my visit were the available ales three oakham beer in form of citra, jhb and white dwarf and a few gastales of froth blowers with piffle snonker and riverside stout on the pumps it is almost sacrilege to have no Oakham ale after they have searched the place for the last 18 years, but I went well for the froth blowers riverside it was stout and very well. the large room behind the bar to the left is now used as an dining room, as long as away are the days where they could get a pub of this size alone on wet sales, and a Thai menu is available. there are those who think that the Thai food is brilliant and those who think it is not so good, but that is all lacking the point what the barton arms is about a piece of British history that has remained miraculously untouched over the years, and let us hope that it remains so that future generations can make the effort to come out of birmingham city center, and to visit the pubs."

"This was our first visit to St Paul's House. We were disappointed to discover that the restaurant was not a separate room but part of an open plan arrangement. This arrangement meant that the loud music impinged on our ability to talk quietly. That said, the service was good and the food very good indeed. A pleasant evening that we'd have enjoyed more had it been a little quieter."

"The gnocchi starter was delicious and so cheesy. As a main I ordered the Chicken and Gambetta pizza which was refreshing and so flavourful ! We also ordered some garlic cheese bread to share ont he table. It was cooked to perfection and again so cheesy! The service was nice and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was my first time at this place and I will definitely come back."
