"Sonia offers large homemade desserts in a quantum house atmosphere. they can choose from one of three of the house specialties. our favorite was the chocolate cake with passion fruit mix, great contrast! the other (pineapple or chocolate pavlowa) were not excessively fabulous in...my opinion and was surprised by the R$14 price tag for everyone. a first-class restaurant in rio or sao paulo would calculate it between 15 and 19 for something truly spectacular, so it seems sonia is certainly from its folklore succession. Good luck. she is definitely worth a visit, but I can't say I'm returning on the rest of our trip."

"This may not be fine Italian gelato but at least there are good local Brazilian flavors (umbu, siriguela, tropical fruits) to choose from. And you pay by the kilo so it’s a good stop if you just need a little palate cleanser. The owner Thiago is a cool Carioca character who speaks good English. He has some good insight on Lencois and Bahia as well as some interesting perspectives on traveling in Brazil in general. We found ourselves stopping in here even on nights when we’d already had dessert."

"The food at El Jamiro is ok, not very special. However, they have a happy hour offering two cocktails for the price of one. Also, when you pay you get two vouchers for free caipirinhas for yoir next visit, so needless to say we went back the next day. The second day there was live music which was really cool, but they added a fee for the live music to our bill without mentioning it, so be careful and check the amount on your bill!"

"Lovely restaurant with great staff. We were warmly welcomed and served ice cold beer (a must). Had breadsticks as starter and it was lovely, but the pizza was the real highlight. It's really tasty and I'd say it feeds easily. The price is quite...fair. Fully recommended."
