"This place was amazing! The service was excellent, you were seated straight away and immediately brought a generous portion of prawn crackers to start off. Then came the starters, a tidy portion, not too filling and they came very quickly while still being cooked fresh to order. Then the crispy duck pancakes, again, cooked to perfection. Main coursers were also excellent, then once they were finished you could order away until your were fit to burst! (Plates have to be empty before ordering another dish). Staff were very helpful and knew their stuff. Will definitely be coming again!"

"We visited the pub as a, stopover in our motorhome on our way back from holiday. Our party was two adults and our 11-year old son. I called in advance to check this was OK. The staff on the phone were positive and helpful. When we got to the pub we were given a ticket to put in the windscreen to show we were patrons of the pub and don't need to pay for pay and display. The car park was large, but relatively busy with patrons from the pub as well as Walkers. However, we managed to park no problem and and it would have been possible to move our van to a quiter spot if we wanted to later on. Thete was a little miscommunication about booking us a table but the manager was so friendly and said he would definitely find a way to fit us in and feed us. This was much appreciated after our journey. The pub serves roasts on a Sunday. These are on a first-come, first-served basis, serving until the food has run out. It was possible to reserve a table and many of the tables had reserved times on. At around 2:30 p.m. I heard someone turned down as the food had run out. So it is definitely worth getting that earlier if you want to eat on a Sunday. However, there is a cafe on site, which served till around 3:30 p.m. as I understand it. Dogs were very welcome. In fact, there were some great raw treats for sale on the bar for doggy friends. We had a choice of pork or beef roast. The lamb needed to be ordered in advance, which we weren't told on the phone, but it didn't really matter. The roast beef, which we all had, was really tender and lovely. It was served with roast potatoes, parsnips, a couple of Yorkshire puddings, and pig in blanket. There was also a lovely big plate of vegetables to share between three of us. There was a lot of gravy and the waitress offered to bring even more, should we need it! Me and my son had the Eton Mess for pudding, which was very nice. It had fresh strawberries and lovely creamy ice cream. I felt the meal was good value, with three of us having roast, two puddings and also 2 pints of soft drink and beer for under £50. The pub was a little bit scruffy inside and probably in need of a little updating. However, the friendliness and kindness of the staff and value for money of the food definitely made up for this. It was good to be able to walk our dog at the nearby estuary following our meal. We also found a lighthouse which had been converted to a home. We assume this is the reason for the name of the pub."

"First class food experience from a great restaurant chain. I've ate at this venue many times when in Newport, as you are not only guaranteed a warm welcome from the staff, but the food is clean, filling and very good value for money. I've never had to wait to get seated in the past, and this visit was no different either at Wagamama in Newport. I was greeted with a smile, shown to the table with my colleagues and allowed time to decide on what to eat. Once the order was placed there wasn't a long wait before the food arrived at the table. Once finished, it was washed down with a green tea and the bill was paid from the comfort of our table, using the online system. The online system for paying allows you to eat and pay the bill at your leisure in a very convenient way. Highly recommended!"
