"A great example of passionate people doing what they love, and it shows. The ice cream is really delicious and although seems small for the amount they serve, is definitely worth paying. Sometimes the ice cream can be too rich or too sweet, but with the amount of rotation of flavours, it's very easy to get over it on a second visit."

"If you are a vegetarian or just want relief from the meat intense diet of Northern Peru, Cafe Caramel has great salads which are enough for a meal. My recollection is that the cost for a large green salad with lots of ingredients was a little less than 20 soles. (at the time 3.5 to the dollar) The sandwiches looked good. It is obviously popular among locals. It is about a block's walk from the hotel El Gran Marques and is next to the Chileno Cafe. After virtuously eating a low calorie salad a lucuma batido (smoothie or milk shake) or a delicious looking ice cream dish is a great reward. If you are in a hurry come just before peak hours."

"Don't get me wrong, I like an ice cream, but you could get a decent alternative from the supermarket a couple of blocks away. The ice creams sometimes are very grainy, and when fruit based, don't seem very natural. The location isn't great either, with no real charm."

"Entering the cafe, the first thing that strikes is that it's quite a sterile environment. Everything is white and it doesn't strike as a Gelateria. The ice creams themselves are fine, but not very inventive. The staff don't seem to enjoy leaving their area behind the counter, which is slightly problematic."

"We came here for lunch today and were really disappointed. Especially because we saw that there were many good reviews... Maybe we were just unhappy with our decisions? The service was so slow. We ordered both cappuccinos and sandwiches and it took about 40 minutes... for everything that comes out. We even have our food before our coffee... something I've never experienced in my whole life! I wouldn't have noticed if our food was decent, but my bread was so tender and disgusting what I paid 16 suns so I could add... If I compare it with London I could have a delicious sandwich of Pret for the same price. So if you are vegetarian, I would strongly suggest avoiding the vegetarian sandwich on the menu. Bad eating our trip so far and we've been on the road for over a month. Sure to say we didn't leave a tip! (Also a first)"
