"Very good friendly service, good food, good size portion excellent value for her money. we only go occasionally because its 1hr 3/4 drive from home about 60 miles. we are both vegans his so beautiful to go somewhere have a selection of several elements on the menu."

"After checking tripadvisor for local eateries we were glad we picked here to eat. Good tasty food, good sized steaks, nice friendly, genuine staff. We were lucky enough to be looked after by the lovely Abbey (with an E), who knew her stuff. If in town would eat here again for the chips alone!"

"The legend, Ian Mac Andrew is still at the top of his game. This chef was a decade ahead of his time. We had dinner for four two nights in a row and every single thing was a sensation in the mouth. Jane Mac Andrew and Daniel were attentive but not obstrusive and offered quiet attention. Go back???? In a heartbeat."

"Cost exactly the same for one person dinner bed and breakfast as for two. Rooms tiny and needed hoovered round the edges. Television didn't work. Was told signal bad i had to bear with it! Bed was spotless and food good. For the price better hotels in portpatrick."

"Visited for a late (2pm) lunch on a Saturday. Village not very busy, still lots of spaces in the little car park.The menu is as you would expect for a wee tearoom: soup, sandwiches, toasties, option of a bowl of chips, teas, coffees, cans of juice. We all chose toasties which were nicely made and came with a dod of coleslaw, a couple of crisps and a nice wee salad with balsamic dressing. You helped yourself to cutlery. Unfortunately there was only one clean fork available as they were waiting for the dishwasher to finish, so we ate our salads with tea spoons and knives. Two of our group had coke, but preferred not to drink out of the cans directly because the juice is just too fizzy for us that way, and normally places such as this offer you a glass automatically so it is no problem. So we asked for glasses, she could only find one and told us “the others must be out in use”. There were two other parties of two folk in at the time – and true, one pair were using two glasses. She offered us straws, but reluctantly gave us some plastic beakers that were on the shelf behind, which were obviously kept for any children that might come in. We had the last two cans of coke from the fridge, and so she went and got more, but then left them on the top without replenishing the fridge while she went hunting for our glasses. They were still there when we left, so I hope the next customer liked their coke from a warm can. We decided on cake, as there were some in the cabinet that looked nice, and we chose one was labelled “cherry, mallow and coconut”. It wasn’t. She told us we could have some Victoria Sponge, so two of us did, and one opted for the white chocolate malteaser traybake. This was so hard and heavy we couldn’t get a knife through it. The café is obviously run by volunteers, and for the most part they were friendly and tried to helpful. Prices were reasonable, and the toasties were good, but if you like to eat with cutlery or drink out of glasses it may be advisable to go early before they run out and while the labels still match the cakes. And don't expect scones after 2pm either. Alternatively I believe the pub opposite does bar meals…."
