"Food was phenomenal but all of the “clean” dishes were dirty. Silverware was dirty and my cup was disgusting with food residue inside and oily feeling on the outside. The store was not clean, flies flying around, cob webs hanging, no ice in thefountain machine. I can see why 90% of people that were walking in were getting to-go orders."

"I?m not the kind to typically leave a review, and I usually cringe at how unfair reviews tend to be, but I feel like our experience tonight warrants a review, but first I want to preface with saying how pleasant the staff and atmosphere was, thisreview is no reflection on them or the building/decor. We were very excited to try a new spot for our weekly date night, andwere quite delighted to hear that on a Friday night in Waco, there was no wait, a big positive. When we arrived, we were greetedby extremely friendly staff who opened the door for us and sat us immediately. Looking over the menu, we took note of the steepprices, but considering the high reviews, we were ok with it. We decided on a Caesar salad and calamari for appetizer, and tosay the least the salad was probably the best part of the meal. The calamari felt slightly under cooked, and the breading wassoggy. For our entrees we chose Beef Wellington and Scallop Scampi, both $29 dishes. Again, we don?t usually spend a lot oneating out but seeing the high reviews we had very high expectations and felt that it would be worth it. Long story short, itwas sadly not worth it in the least. The beef Wellington was ok, but the scallop Scampi was oily, flavorless, and the scallopswere slightly undercooked in my opinion. These are things that wouldn?t bother me usually, but considering the near $30 pricetag, we were very disappointed. After leaving, we both agreed that not only were we disappointed, but we didn?t (and don?t) feelgood at all, in fact we rushed home after having to run an errand to take an activated charcoal. So I say all this not to tryand convince people not to go to 1424, but I do want people to have a fair representation from the less than favorable side.Anyways, the staff and atmosphere were an easy 5/5, but the food unfortunately was 2/5. Hopefully this experience was not acommon experience."

"We haven?t been in quite a while but heard good things recently so gave them a try and the Grilled Redfish topped with crab sauce that I had was amazing. Even the zucchini and yellow squash medley was really good and seasoned perfectly. Service was great, food was great and my husband loved his seafood pasta. We like this casual small town feel little restaurant."

"Horrible place to work and eat. This place was shut down a few years ago because they couldn't get their act together and they haven't improved any if you ask me. Management is the worst I've ever worked for. Of one of their favorites has some issue with you then management will just pull you off the schedule because they are too spineless to talk to you about it. Also no complaints are ever addressed unless you are the managers roommate or his roommate's son. This place is pure trash with only a handful of good people. <br br/>Want to talk about the atmosphere? Lets just say there are plenty of bugs and rats to chase you around while you eat. The booths are small and tightly packed together, and if you come when they're expecting a bus...good luck getting a table. The moron who owns the place has no clue how to handle anything so you could be standing around unnecessarily waiting for a table when there are plenty available but they are reserved for hours for a bus.<br br/>The food is terrible even for a buffet. As a former server here, I can't count the number of complaints I had as a from people saying the food hurt their stomach or was just flat out nasty. <br br/>This place is a joke all the way around and if you choose to ignore this review then I guarantee you will wish you had listened when you go and see that I'm telling the truth. <br br/>Am I mad that I was accused of stealing from this place without ever being asked about it first? You bet! <br/>Did I actually steal anything? Nope.<br br/>Am I just some disgruntled ex-employee? Not really but when you take into consideration that I was wrongfully accused of stealing when I didn't, if you take into account that none of my complaints were ever addressed, if you take into account that current employees from the restaurant have come to my home and tried to bust out my Windows for telling the absolute truth about this place, then you would probably be a little mad too. <br"
