"What a surprise. One of the best meals I’ve had in Puerto Vallarta. Great food great service. Started with a marinated tuna and a marinated beef. Beautiful to look at and delicious. Then on to lamb chops. There must have been 6-8 on the plate with vegetables. Wonderful and they came with an exotic black sauce. Finishing up with chocolate cake. The whole meal was WOW."

"My husband and I sat overlooking the ocean while it was setting - breathtaking! This is definitely a steakhouse - good for lovers of red meat. I had delicious lamb chops and my husband had a rib eye. With it we ordered creamed spinach with artichoke, and twice baked potato with chorizo - it was all delicious! The meats came with a trio of sauces - reminded me of the chimichurri in Argentina, but with a Mexican flair (and heat! which we loved.)We shared an excellent bottle of Mexican wine with the dinner - very enjoyable!"

"Visité recientemente Maia por dos ocasiones y me sigue pareciendo muy bueno comparado con el resto de restaurantes en el puerto, sin embargo hubo ciertas cosas que extrañé, por ejemplo;Su piscina, era encantador degustar tus alimentos con una buena compañía en el área trasera de su restaurante, sin embargo, las últimas ocasiones no estuvo disponible según el staff, mismo que percibí con menor carisma y cortesía, quizás porque los visité en días pico. Cabe resaltar que tras la remodelación el restaurante les quedó precioso, y se siente el concepto tradicional y artístico que el chef Hugo Ahumada ha impreso en él. Su comida sigue siendo muy buena y sigue siendo recomendable, pero percibí menos dedicación, necesitan sólo un poquito más de ella para permanecer siempre excelentes.Fue un gustazo volver a visitarlos."

"Our family came to stay at Casa Velas (6 adults) for a week and have enjoyed our stay at this 4 star resort. The front of house staff were all professional and went out of their way to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. However, Emiliano's, the resorts only restaurant, was a disappointment on several occasions and numerous dishes. Our expectation was 4 star and our experience fell far short. The staff tried to accommodate us during our meals but fell short on execution. I'll start by pointing out service issues: waiting 10 minutes for menu's or water, waiting 10 minutes before my empty wine glass was refilled during dinner, forgetting my cappuccino when the rest of my party received theirs (it never came), long delays for requested items.The food also fell well below the 4 star hotel rating: raw lamb chops that were supposed to be medium, numerous dishes that simply lacked taste and were mediocre at best, long wait times for courses to be served, We spoke to other guests that also experienced the same lackluster dinners.For a resort that consistently performed at a high level daily, it is unfortunate that the sole restaurant could not keep up with the standards set.I've read many of the positive reviews on Emiliano's and can only gather that the difference is in expectations. I travel at a 4 & 5 star level and that is what I expect. Casa Velas was 4 star and Emiliano's was 2.5 at best. Perhaps this that were enamored with this restaurant have different expectations."
