"Went for lunch the meal was nice but the service was terrible we arrived and told where the table was, we had to get extra menus ourselves, no cutlery on table, went to get a drink at the bar was asked was I paying the bill, I only wanted a drink ordered a soft drink glass not filled to top and drink flat. Had to keep asking waitress for water, meal came out didn't have cutlery had to ask got told have to wait for the dishwasher to finish...by the time we got cutlery some of the meals where cold. Some had tongs with their food....Yes they where busy but they had plenty of waiters just standing around in the corner. Where told at the start full table service for food and drinks, never happened for the drinks we had to go to the bar each time...toilets where disgusting bins overflowing mess all over the floor heard many people comment on state of toilets. Very very disappointed"

"Present energy allows all the classic traits of what one wants when they’re visiting a new town; one typically wants to be reminded of their childhood. I am obsessed with going to places that help me feel like I’ve stepped back into time, a time when money didn’t coax us to embrace an identity gently and somewhat harshly defined by social structures…I was free and in a way, I believe that we are all seeking that freedom, that sort of innocence what is it about that time in our lives that we are always try to ‘get back’…is it that sentimentality that we can access without all the rubbish of negative attachments in our current states…in that moment of remembering we actually can hold dear the feeling of idealism without having the inner critic over for tea. In the case of this general store there is a safety net, an ability to easily let go…the decor and attention to detail give obvious permission and a sweet invitation; you are free to believe in the good parts of life, the kind that bring community together, the kind where kids play in the streets, the kind where your neighbours say hello and we are not too busy to enjoy each other…the invitation is to free yourself from yourself…come be a part of something, the something that has happened and the something that is happening now. Perhaps the invitation is to extend the line of sight beyond the daily….to encompass a bigger picture…a part of your imagination, the dreamer in you….the one that wanted more before the world told one to shrink down into a perfect duplicate of everyone else. We will love you…just be like them. Walk through the door at Merrick’s and we’ll give you a cup of coffee, a nice meal and perhaps a bit of oxygen."

"Genuine Japanese, menu not entirely your "typical" Japanese found in Australia. Lovely staff, Japanese master chef. Frequented several times, all good."

"Very disappointed the menu states $30pp - pizza or pasta salad, garlic bread and a glass of wine...very small pizza..one piece of garlic bread and the salad was a small bowl of mixed lettuce leaves only with dressing to be shared by two people.."

"Have recently visited barn and co with various family members and my small child, both paintings for lunch on a sunny day. really enjoyed both eating and wein, have tried a lot. the menu now and I loved the pizza and gnocchi, man evaluates the lamb. Some dinge seem overpriced (croquettes) but others are really reasonable (saladen,) so that everything works. only one employee we visited last week and she seemed pretty busy waiting a minute or two to take our order, but was very friendly and professional. the reasons are honest as pretty and it seems like a nice place for high time or large group birthday lunch etc. a really good supplement to this side of the half island when we drove to the trofeo dromana for similar style eating/drinking."

"On a visit to the Mornington Peninsula we sighted the Heritage and it looked Good. Wandering through the place it looked Especially Good. So the decision was made to dine there. Only looking for a light meal and 'knowing' we had Good supplies and wine where we were staying, if Need being. We both thought the King prawns and seared scallops over a bed of beans would fit admirably. I had to go to the car to retrieve my phone, but on my return there were our meals looking at us. My Beloved who has a string of food allergies/intolerances and histamine issues was looking at me with a resigned look on her face despite the 'chef' being presented with a list that Clearly stated what she needed to have to Stay Safe. The Abortion that confronted us was Nothing like we expected. My mistake was I didn't call Staff back to register our Disgust at a 70's outback pub's 'effort' of pretending to be Far Better than what they were capable of.Later our waitress confirmed that the so called 'chef' had just winged it and put together something entirely different from what the menu described. Talking with what I believe to be a senior Staff member, she confirmed the 'chef' had cooked a seafood pasta earlier in the week and her belief was he was trying to use it up, the prawns had been cooked 2 days previous. My Wife's list Clearly stated All ingredients Have to be Fresh. The pasta wasn't even supposed to be on the dish ordered. So to put it in perspective the pasta which constituted 50% of the dish and Wasn't specified or desired was days old and over cooked. The scallops supposedly seared were lucky if they were boiled and the prawns were 2 days old. The dish was Swimming in a watery soupy sauce that was lack luster and the dish was finished with 3 slices of Stale white bread roll. Now the Staff who after enquiring on the Enjoyment factor of our meal appeared to be mortified and embarrassed were Terrific. And They were a Credit to their employer, for the place looks Really Wonderful. The wine we ordered was OK, but Just. The prices were Pretty up there on both the meals and the wine. The 'chef' Did Want to 'try' and create our dish again, but once bittern we were Very Much twice shy. So 'chef' my Wife is currently 3 additional antihistamines of keeping her Alive and Well. The Staff further to their Credit decided not to charge for the concoctions offered, but we Thank You Dearly for the gesture.Sadly it's already put a dampener on our visit to the Mornington Peninsula, but I'm sure there's Better Times to come. Will We be back? Not Bloody LikelyCheersTrev"
