"This is the story of two eateries in Swanage and how divergent the experience can be. We visited this pub on a busy Thursday evening, by busy I mean that the football was in full swing on multiple screens showing multiple games. It was very busy with both locals and visitors. The decor and set up is very much of the traditional British pub. The drinks based on other local pubs/restaurants in the area are reasonably priced. The food was excellent value for money and well presented. Our bill for the evening came to an exact £50. And the second eatery? Well the previous evening we had spent £83 on two dinners and the same amount of alcohol in a “pub” less than 200 yards away on the same street. The food was not as good or as well presented and frankly the ambiance was a bit sterile. So before “weighing anchor” to eat in this charming town have a good look around."

"A very atmospheric Pub, a very nice bar with lots of colorful drinks. I was there on 2,05,2020 with my fiancée and two friends. It turned out that on that day you had to have a reservation but for the waiter it was not a problem and in a fraction of a second he found us a table. I also recommend Toast with cheese and garlic butter."

"Close to where we were staying we tried the Rose Crown for a birthday meal for 8. Barman was super friendly, food was excellent and price was good value. Pint of Haka was spot on. Food wise we ordered chilli, gammon, braised lamb, lasagne, beef roasts and cheesy chips. All tasted fab and no complaints. Well worth trying out if you are local or just in the area."

"Beautiful small pub with a large garden area and play area. would definitely recommend for families. service was amazing, our waitress was brilliant and nothing was too much annoyed. the food tasted very good. only the lighting wasn't great, but this is just a nod really."

"My husband and I called in for lunch. He had cod and chips £13 which was good value and he enjoyed it. I went for scampi and chips which really wasn’t value for money. It consisted of 8 pieces of scampi and 10 chips, that works out at £1 each for the scampi and 40p per chip, no peas just a very small salad garnish with rotten lettuce, tinned sweetcorn, little pieces of cucumber, pepper and tomato. Left feeling ripped off and will not return which is a shame as we are quite local."

"The Kings Arms is everything that a good pub should be. Cosy and friendly with attentive staff. The landlord knows his ales and had handpumps each serving quality beer. I tried all were on excellent form, with Ringwood Fortyniner narrowly winning my Beer of the Evening award.We had lovely meals, then their pièce de résistance', mum's homemade Dorset Applecake; a dessert to die for! Book early and go: you won't be disappointed!"
