"Good, cheap vegan food, much of it made of soy or gluten. As always in Peru, the daily special or "menu del dia" is the cheapest and fastest option. There are two locations, both on Jiron Amalia Puga, but on opposite sides of the plaza. One is two blocks east of the plaza at 409 Amalia Puga. This one is smaller and less crowded. The other is three blocks to the west of the plaza on the corner of Tarapaca. It is two stories and seems to be more popular. It has the smallest, most humiliating bathroom I've ever been in. Both restaurants keep "kosher" hours, being closed Friday evening and all day Saturday, because most vegetarians in Peru are Seventh Day Adventists. The sign at the west side location gave the following hours:Sunday 8-2. Monday thru Thursday 8-2; 5-8. Friday 8-2. Get there while you can!"

I am very health conscious, and it can be hard to find a place is cajamarca. that does not use msg. their dishes are low in fat and are mostly fish dishes. they are delicious, but on this way you can feel good after eating instead of being guilty. the restaurant atmosphere is also stylish. there is even a small bar. it is located in a colonial hotel, hotel tartar, which is a bit difficult to find, but it is at the airport in la entrada de zarco campestre. taxi drivers will sometimes try to tear them off when they are a gringa like me, although be so careful. ask first the price."
