"We had a reservation for 4:45pm for 3 of us. When we arrived we asked if we could sit out on the patio. The hostess told us that it was fully reserved. We thought this was odd as when we made the reservation online you could not reserve the patio specifically.... The patio was almost empty with only one table outside. We told her that we (3 of us) would be out by 6:00pm, and that we just wanted to have drinks and appies outside. She said that there wasn't enough staff on to serve us outside. Meanwhile we saw countless staff leaning by the bar, chatting to each other and doing nothing. We sat inside- and while the food and service was good, we were very annoyed that we could not sit outside on a beautiful evening- and for my friends' birthday! We saw our server walk outside several times as well....When we left at just after 6, the patio was half empty still. We spoke to a manager and he was not helpful. The entire place had a very pretentious vibe. Do only VIPs get to make reservations on the patio? I will not return. Will stick to Gothams for a nice steakhouse."

"I must say, this whole Foodee delivery sure does make blogging a whole lot easier, especially when work and life are in overdrive with way too many things going on at once. Wednesday rolled around again which means another Foodee delivery, and thankfully the person in charge of our office deliveries is continuing the trend of ordering from new places. Sandwiches seem to be one of the main foods Foodee delivers and generally they’re pretty damn good, each place with their own unique take on sandwiches. So when I saw Meat City appear in the email detailing what to expect this week I was curious to learn more about them. I’d already heard a little about them online, reading something a while back about a pair of CFL players who teamed up with yet another chef who was on MasterChef Canada to open up a new sandwich shop in the west end. This was on the list of places to visit, so this just made my life a whole lot easier."

"I visited their Kits location today. The place was mostly empty when I arrived at around 1:00 pm on a Wednesday, and I was seated quickly. I ordered their Carolina Pulled Pork Pancakes, Giant version, which came with pulled pork, three eggs, and two pancakes (their small version came with 2 eggs and 1 pancake). The food was fine (details below) the standout for me was the pulled pork, and the portion was big enough to satisfy me (I have a MASSIVE appetite). The service was efficient and friendly, and I do like their relaxed and casual atmosphere. Overall, I had a pretty good experience at this diner, and I do hope to sample more from their menu in the future.<br/ <br/ Carolina Pulled Pork Pancakes (Giant, $15):<br/ 3.5/5<br/ This came with two pancakes, pulled pork, and three eggs, which I asked to have fried. I didn't really care much for the eggs they were a bit rubbery and don't appear to be at all seasoned. I was initially a bit disappointed by the pancakes as they seemed to be quite flat and thin. Fortunately, they did taste better than they look, and did not have any off flavour or bitterness from baking soda. I did find the texture to be a bit too chewy for my liking however, bordering on rubbery. The pulled pork was definitely the standout for me: it was tender and juicy, and coated in a delicious sweet and slightly spicy bbq sauce. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough of the pork present. Portion wise, the giant version was perfect for me it satisfied my enormous appetite without leaving me in a complete food coma."

"Awesome atmosphere and a wide variety of dishes from a great deal of places. Burgoo offers a solid selection of meals to enjoy with a range of mouth-watering ingredients, making it difficult to choose what to get. I personally chose the Kentucky Burgoo, which was is a nice warm meal to dig into on any rainy Vancouver day. They also have a decent drink menu to choose from. I recommend the Snakebite for people who like a more citrusy beer. I can't wait to be back to try there other fantastic dishes."

"Ordered a Lavender Latte, which was very flavourful (but pricey as the lavender add-on is an extra $1). The F.A.B. Salad was a little too vinegary for my taste buds between the vinaigrette and pickled red onions, but did have a decent mix of ingredients with apple and bacon. My companions were happy with their cheese-based entrees, the French Onion Soup and Gooey Cheese Grillers. We were given complimentary house bread and the wait staff was attentive and checked in regularly. After paying, we were not rushed out the door and encouraged to stay as we were still chatting. Really nice bistro to come for some comfort food. They also have happy hour, which we'll try out next time!"
