"This place is hard to beat! I 'm from Norfolk, and I make a bee line for this lovely place with the plants, the clothes, cooking bits and bobs, the courtyard outdoor seating and the cosy inside tables EVERY TIME I visit Lancaster ... THE FOOD: home cooked, absolutely delicious, plenty of it OH MY you will NOT have that is that all I get?! feeling here!!!! LOCAL sourced, beautifully seasoned, whether soup of the day or mains, savoury or sweet, this place is EXCELLENT. Staff are friendly and relaxed, can 't do enough for you. Atmosphere is bustling and often busy but they have time for a quick chat and luckily plenty of seats ... and when you 're sat down enjoying the food there 's no sense of being hustled along you take your time and thoroughly enjoy ... and the CAKES are to die for ... I often add extra traybakes and brownies and get them to wrap it all up so I can take them away with me ... This last time I had the most delicious cheese and onion pie six inches across filled with lots of both and the lightest, flakiest pastry pie crust all around with garden peas because I prefer them to mushy peas (no problem with my substituting), crisp hot chips, and an entire gravy boat with more yummy cheese sauce! and I 'm a meat eater, but this was heavenly and so warming on a chilly wet September day! TWO cakes to follow, shared half and halfsies with a friend moist, delicious: one coffee/walnut and t 'other chocolate/orange ... with soft drinks of rhubarb and of cloudy lemon all very nice Time before that: a most excellent spiced chicken flatbread wrap with salad and mango chutney and very nice tangy seasonings ... so large I ate half and wrapped the rest up for later ... And did I say all their serving team are lovely? Well, they are! I wish them all continued busyness and success, it 's well deserved. See you all on my next trip north and westwards ...!!"

"We wanted to visit The Barn for ages after seeing various fabulous vegan dishes, post them on Facebook. Yesterday post suggested that jackfruit cum, avocado Slav, black bean and mango salsa and fries was dish of the day, I was able to confirm, then jumped in the car. My husband and I both ordered the shark jackfruit with the salsa on the side, so I could swallow mine for nave claw as I am allergic to black beans. The whole meal was excellent, delicious Jackfruit full of taste, loved the idea of using avocado instead of Mayo in the rake, crispy frits and hubby torn off two portions of black bean and mango salsa, so it says everything. I love her to take care of vegans and not just a token boring salad, but well thought-out dishes. Chef Richard, who is responsible for all wonderful creative vegan dishes, he does a great job and I will definitely return. I also found some vegan treats in the gift shop, such as vegan chocolate and Kendal Minze cakes."

"As posted on google review as well yes, they 're THAT good. Absolutely excellent best Indian food takeaway we 've EVER had, we travel extensively in the UK. The food is close to as perfect as you 'd find in any top flight Indian restaurant that 'd charge you a fortune. We cannot find a fault with any of their main dishes (we 've ordered frequently from Tariq 's different main dishes), their starters are to the same quality love the Seekh Kebab, the added fresh coriander leaf is a great touch. Besides the quality of the main dishes, the quantity supplied is well adequate (more than enough, unless you 're American lol). Tariq 's obviously care about providing great food at an affordable price well done them ! Price is good, delivery is fast (3 4 hr on mid Sat evening) very helpful friendly staff delivery drivers. Can 't give above a 5 star rating or I would !"

"Food was ok standard. Ordered the mango chicken which there was plenty of, lots of added veg, mango pieces and full to the top of the tub. Rice little bit dry and sticky. Salt and chilli chicken didn’t at all taste of much and very thin slices so not much chicken inbetween the batter. Prawn crackers fine. However it took a good 1hr and 20 mins to arrive. I did ring the takeaway and lad who answered was lovely and apologised but just a little bit long to expect delivery on a late Wednesday evening."

"I have been coming here for years AND I won't lie It has been up and down not always on point BUT last night our food was absolutely amazing!!!! Everything tasted amazing so fresh and hot. The chicken was lovely and tender NOT DRY!!! we got 6 main meals with rice some chips and 15 popadoms with mango chutney and it came to £83 I think"
