"It was about in was Sig Catenazzi della Cie. Publicitas Chiasso and Aldo Ghilardi who took me to Grotto Eremo San Nicolao for the first time. Signora Maria made the best ever, best ever Roast Beef. "This is a lovely place, with great service and delicious food. We spent our Easter lunch with a couple of friends and really enjoyed the special menu. We felt very welcome (even though none of us speak Italian). The area around the Osteria is also quite scenic with plenty of paths for small hikes and walks. We will come back in summer as soon as we get the chance!"

"Friendly welcome! the environment is typical of a country tavern, tablecloths and paper napkins and an incredible noise that can become annoying with the time going. we had lunch with a pheasant terrine, which was good, but the salad that was a contour did not fit. gnocchi, with cream sauce and mushrooms, were very soft and the mushrooms were excellent. The intrecôte, which the master showed me before the ordination, was cooked to the blood as desired and very good mushrooms. only the green beans that were bordering were not exciting. the only sweet possible was a tart with vanilla ice cream: it has disappointed me a little. the tavern is a stone's throw from the züst foundation."

"What a sound! the owners were very friendly, we sat at a table with a view of the valley. patio with tree and reben. we had the osso buco and cepes, with polenta and risotto. what a meal! fabulous and would recommend 100% others."

"You have to look for it and it’s not easy to get there by car, but it’s how a real grotto used to be. Tables are arranged under big trees and you can enjoy the breeze in hot summer days and a great view over the southers tip of lake Lugano. They offer a good mix of traditional dishes, local produce and Italian dishes."
