"Once a cozy , friendly place I often went to for decades.This time I asked for a table for myself and two visitors. The guy at the counter rudely said the menu is on the wall, order and pick up here . Can we sit downstairs? The menu is on the wall, order and pick up here . Turns out there is no longer waitstaff, you find or share a table, everything is plastic (utensils, cups, dinner boxes), the salad is soggy and dressing terrible, the food not close to its previous incarnation and they don 't even inform you when your order in the plastic bag is ready. I was embarrassed I took friends there and will never return. The only good thing at this fast food location was that they didn 't ask if everything was O.K. I miss the Pines! "We were in beautiful Ithaca for a concert. Made reservations for a Saturday night with another couple. We were early so we went to the bar. The only bartender on at that moment was busy with service tickets and didn't even bother to acknowledge us by saying hello or anything. We were completely ignored until the hostess came to seat us. We enjoyed each other's company for dinner or it would have been a total let down. My salmon entree was over cooked and overpriced, not to mention void of flavor. With all the cookbooks they have... I never would have expected such an unsatisfactory meal. I will return to Ithaca for sure but I will not be returning to the moosewood!"

"I stumbled across this place while trying to find an Italian restaurant. We had called ahead to inquire about a reservation and was told that nothing was available until late but that the outdoor patio was fcfs. When we showed up the patio was full but they had tables available inside. A little confusing based on what we were previously told but good news regardless. The majority of the inside was empty so we got a nice big booth. We started with an order of calamari and a couple salads. The calamari was nicely breaded and crispy, complete with fried cherry peppers and a tasty marinara sauce. For dinner I had the penne alla vodka with shrimp and my gf got the chicken parm. The penne alla vodka was in my top 2, if not the best I've ever had. The shrimp was fresh and well cooked and the pasta to sauce ratio was perfect. The service was also exceptional. The whole restaurant industry is suffering from a shortage of workers right now but you would never know it here. The staff was very attentive and I haven't had service like this since covid began. My water glass was never even close to being empty and the food came out quick. Don't miss this hidden gem if you are in Ithaca."
