"I keep reading about jinya ramen as highly recommended ramen restaurant from the yyc food group and got curious about their food since I was craving for ramen that day so me and my husband tried the place. For me the food is okay and...i would say that it is not authentic Japanese cuisine though food wise it was ok. The place is somehow jampack, waiting time is not that long and we just waited for about 15 minutes. Price wise it was reasonable, parking in the area is a bit difficult, no waiting area for customers to wait. We ordered their famous and best seller tonkatsu black ramen, chef special karaage bowl, pork gyoza and crispy chicken."

"Coworker recommended this as one of the best Ramen houses in Calgary, sooo true! All pork broth boiled in house over 12 hours. Garlic miso broth is fantastic! Opted for sesame spinach in place of the slices of pork added a nice touch! Staff is...very friendly and helpful in explaining everything for our first time here. Place has maybe 10 tables, full the whole time we were there but they bring out the food very quick so worth a wait if there is one."

"Onze laatste avond in downtown Calgary afgesloten bij Hapa Izakaya. We hadden trek in sushi en dit was lekker dichtbij ons hotel. Ruime opgezette zaak,voor de donderdag niet erg druk-wel enkel Aziaten. Bediening was niet wat we gewend waren in de rest van Canada (lees:erg overdreven vriendelijk) maar meer tegen het ongeïnteresseerde aan. Miso soepje besteld,Californie rol en een japanse salade. Vriendin een kom ramen en een dynamite rol. Lang verhaal kort,heerlijk gegeten ! Salade vol smaak,sushi dik in orde,en alles voor een vriendelijke prijs en de porties waren ruim voor een sushi restaurant."

"A cute little noodle place that is brightly-lit and has a welcoming atmosphere. The menu may be a little limited and the prices are on par with most ramen places, with up to $15 a bowl. The food itself is nothing that special (the noodles aren't handmade or anything) but the broth is quite salty and flavorful so it's definitely great if that's what you're looking for!"

"If you are unable to get into the hugely popular Zipang restaurant and are looking for a good alternative, look just a little further along 1st Avenue SE and you will find Daruma Sushi restaurant. Is is a little less expensive, has some unique dishes and really good attentive service. Great web site too check it out: [hidden link] From the outside it is unimpressive mostly because of its location but don't let that put you off. Inside it is clean, fresh and friendly. I had a couple of the more basic dishes because it was my first time here and I like to compare dishes I frequently try. So the sunomono salad was fresh and tasty, not too sweet and served with lots of octopus, a perfect starter. To follow I had chirashi, the presentation was unique, served in a square rice bowl with a great variety of seafood on top of perfect rice, yummy. Next time I am going to try some of the more unique Japanese dishes served at this delightful little restaurant. Give it a try, it won't be so easy to get a table here as soon as the word gets out about this hidden gem!"

"Friendly staff and good ambiance. It was quite busy but we were able to get a table near the back and I was craving ramen. I got the a shio ramen and my hubby got the special spicy soy ramen. The staff brought out fried garlic chips, chili pepper and chili oil to accompany the ramen which was nice. I thought my shio ramen had a little bit too much green onion and seaweed it in. The broth was a bit too salty for my liking."
