"It’s not the most authentic tasting Japanese offerings out there, but Sushi Chef does an acceptable job for a lunchtime fix. As a busy man, I went for the takeaway bento box which I spent a good half an hour photographing at my desk. I went with the mami chicken and requested some vegetarian items (though that doesn’t quite explain the prawn). Wait was a little longer than I would have liked but I probably unlucked out, as a table was seated before me."

"The restaurant is small and cozy and seats about 12 people. Each tempura dish is beautifully and carefully created. The chef literally makes the tempura making an art and it's such a joy to watch because you can feel the pride this person has in his food.This was our second time there and it was such a pleasure. Definitely suits special dates and anniversaries! The food is also very reasonably priced."

"Staff were excellent and environment is nice.When in Melbourne we normally enjoy some fresh Japanese atPurple Peanuts in the CBD but went to salon de sushi based on the reviews.While the meat curry was good, and the seared scallop nagiri was very tasty, we felt the seared salmon belly and beef nagiri wasnt up to par and the other dishes including miso soup and poke chirasi bowl were good but not excellent. We probably wont be back as we like Purple Peanuts better and it didnt wow us based on our comparision of taste."
