"Enjoyed the beautiful setting and selection of fresh salads for lunch. We came back for tea and scones. The staff were friendly and the views, amazing. Very calm and soothing atmosphere when we were there."

"Fantastic spot for coffee and breakfast. The service was great and the owner was really nice as well. We had the Mediterranean sandwich and the Royale Benny (no hollandaise). They were able to make most things with no dairy which was great. The coffee was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend stopping by!"

"I am aware that our geographic survey in all edinburgh is not entirely what it could be and will be from where we tend to spend most of our time. So when there was an opportunity to lunch in polwarth, I jumped by chance. for the first time the queen vicky had suggested the piecebox that sounded good to me. I had visited one because the nearby odds ends, and I heard good dinge about streat hawker in the polwarth tavern, but that is otherwise quite unexplored territory for me."

"Worte can't describe my dear to this little brunch place. three and a half years ago my family and I visited edinburgh for the first time and met us at the southern cross cafe to breakfast. the cute decor, wonderful personal and amazing eating ensured a return visit to our second morning, which we almost never do, as we usually decide to try new places when we travel. I returned to edinburgh with friends. somehow I tracked this place and it wasn't disappointed. the decor was the same, eating and coffee as delicious. the personal had changed, but they were even more friendly! between my two friends and we shared the big belter, not knowing what we set ourselves up. enough to say we probably left a third of the plate behind us, although we put ourselves beyond our borders! in the grunde, go! I will spend every morning here when I visit this city:"

"I have just celebrated my special birthday at Quays Commons and to say it was outstanding is to put it mildly. From start to finish my event went smoothly and the setting was just perfect. My menu was consisted of freshly prepared meats, beautiful cheeses, wonderful salads, delicious home made pies, chutneys, fish pates and freshly baked sour dough bread and crackers, almost forgot delicious Cullen Skink!. Everyone commented on how wonderful the food was and that they had never experienced anything quite so good at a party. A fine selection of wines, beers and gins were available for guests to purchase along with the option of purchasing wine from the beautiful display within the restaurant. We had a record player and had a nice selection of records from my era which worked brilliantly. The staff are wonderful and the manageress Jackie looked after us so well throughout the night. I had a chocolate mocha birthday cake that was delicious too. A brilliant evening was had by all and thank you for making my birthday so special."

"We were visiting Edinburgh from the USA and were very impressed! Don't be deterred by the one or two negative reviews below...this place is lovely. It's welcoming, warm, and cozy. It also had the best espresso out of all the spots we tried in Edinburgh...which is saying a lot because good coffee in the UK is hard to find, in our experience. The food is delicious and you can tell it's made with love. Finally, you must try their Victorian Sponge Cake.....it was AMAZING."

"Nice little caffe. was here a few times. most of their baked were very delicious. was not too sharp on the brioche objects, but the cakes are certainly worth a try (especially with the little picked chili they sell). coffee is delicious and pleasant atmosphere."
