"My wife and I came here for an early Valentines Day dinner, with really high hopes seeing a lot of the reviews this place was getting. Sadly it was an overall horrible experience. It is a very loud restaurant to start, one of those one speaker blaring fairly audible beats. Which makes everyone have to yell over it to speak to whomever they came with. It is also very tiny, and despite making reservations 3 weeks prior, we were crammed into a tiny table between two other couples. So the atmosphere is bad, but it got worse as we waited well over an hour to get our food without being check in on by the waitress. Eventually the food came and to put the cherry on top of an overall disaster of a meal the food was just plain bad. I had a flank steak that was chewy and tasteless, which came with coconut rice (which was obviously just minute rice) and a duck egg on top of the whole thing that was uncooked. My wife had pineapple rice inside of half a pineapple (get it! get it! you can instagram it! It tastes absolutely horrible, but it will look cool when you tag this restaurant in it!!). Needless to say we only ate half of it and left feeling like a downtown Burger King would have been more romantic with better food. This is a total flash in the pan, gimmicky restaurant that will be completely shut down once more inevitable bad reviews come pouring in. Save your money and save your night by not going to this disaster. Wait till it goes belly up, maybe the next place will know how to cook rice...."

"Went with a group for my birthday party, and we were not disappointed. The food was high quality and consistent. The servers were very attentive and polite considering the stress they must have. And to top it off, the lights in the whole restaurant dimmed when they sang "Happy Birthday" for me. Grossly embarrassing but fun.Considering I have been to Japan several times, the food is generally on par. The only thing is the price but you do get what you pay for. Been to other izakaya in Toronto and are not as good as this."

"Definitively one of the best Japanese restaurants in the heart of downtown Toronto. The Sashimi is amazing made with a high-quality and huge variety of fishes. The service is top notch with a full explanation of the dishes that come to the table.Can't expect more. Only the bill is not a pleasant moment.Highly recommended for couples or groups."

"I placed the order on the counter and I was pleasantly surprised that our dish was served very quickly. I was disappointed with the quality of this plate. The part of Teppan Curry Beef with rice was good enough for a person. The curry sauce was thick and tasted good and was not spicy. However, the beef rolls on the plate were the lower quality and did not taste too well when they were heated on the plate. The rice was a little chewing, so I had to make sure to chew everything before I swallowed. Overall, this was a very mediocre court. The photos of their dazzling dishes look so much better on the menu than in real life... After our hot dish we ordered a dessert to share. We have the “Fresh Mango with Taro Balls in Special Mango Juice”. Again, we were served very quickly. (I'm not sure what the special part of mango juice means... I was impressed by the taro balls that were clogged in this dessert. The Taro balls were probably the best I ever had! They were very smooth and damp and had a slight indication of Taro aroma. This dessert also contained very small amounts of sago (pitiful , chunks of fresh mango, and N could also find a tangent disc. The mango juice was very sweet (that meant that it was not watered down at all. Overall, I was very underwhelmed with Sweet O’clock. My opinion is that food quality was very differentiated here and not what I expected at all. (N also made a good point that they should publish a new menu because many of the items on the existing menu were marked either “unfilled” or “to come soon”. XD During the time we were fed, there were only two other tables of customers. When we were gone, there was no one in the restaurant... I think this is a sign of their (in popularity. (Your washroom is at the top — the upper level also has more seats."

"Looks good, but everything right down to the gyoza and salad is from frozen! Imitation crab and shrimp dominate the menu. If you want salmon its only on the large bento! The Simple Kitchen next door has a huge, beautifully seasoned grilled salmon box for way cheaper!"

"Having spent a few hours enjoying plays at the Toronto Fringe Festival last Monday evening, we wandered down Bathurst Street to King Street to find a place to eat. It was good fortune that we turned left on King instead of right, otherwise we would have missed Blowfish on the northeast corner. This is a large restaurant with a typical Japanese minimalist décor - totally to our liking. In fact, they even promote their menu as Japanese Fusion. On a summer Monday evening it was fairly quiet with perhaps 15 diners, including ourselves.They were promoting their Summer Menu. At $35 for 3 courses it looked like a great deal so we ordered it. We were not disappointed! The salad was outstanding and set on a bed of thinly sliced watermelon. The next course was a plate of 4 pieces of sushi. I'm allergic to shrimp. No problem, they substituted something equally delectable. We both agreed it was some of the finest sushi we have ever tasted (and we eat Japanese fairly often.)! The main course was the fusion part of the meal - a favourite of mine, Branzino fillet. As is usually the case with Japanese dining, the presentation of each course was sensational. The service from Richelle was terrific, although chances are she may not have had the time to chat with us so much had we been there on a busy Friday night! Wine prices are a little steep at $14 for a 5oz glass (they also sell 3oz glasses) but that seems to be the norm in downtown restaurants in big cities.We had a delightful evening at Blowfish and highly recommend a visit to enjoy their Summer Menu."
