"What a charming, welcoming, friendly place. When you approach the counter, you can see into the kitchen, and immediately I felt that authentic home cooking vibe. The staff was really nice and explained everything. You can select the buffet or items from the menu. I think I arrived shortly after the hour. There were a lot of business / office people just finished and left as I arrived. It seems very popular. When I arrived and asked for a table, I was advised to choose what I wanted before I sat down. Of course I had to try the tofu and vegetable pho. I was looking for a place to sit and was really pleasantly surprised by the decoration and style. I appreciated the warmth and the cozy home like the restaurant. There's a piano in the corner, and a little Buddha. The paintings on the wall 'Vietnam Style '. The Pho arrived and I wasn't dissapointed. It tasted great. A beautiful large bowl filled with rice noodles, carrots, red onions, tofu and a mint and chili shrimp. The broth was also very aromatic and not too salty. After meal, I was recommended to have Vietnamese coffee. It was also very nice and it came with the coffee still filtering into the glass. I always love when it's served. Art, theatre and food are a great combination. After that I went down to use the bathroom, and to my surprise there was another dining room. The restaurant is much bigger than outside. The bathrooms were very clean and melt fresh. 5 stars round. Card payments accepted."

"A ruined evening. My wife and I had one evening to spend in Basel, and chose this restaurant because of the attractive setting. We were bitterly disappointed. The fish and vegetables came from the freezer (confirmed by the server) and the tasteless, butter-free risotto was almost certainly from an instant packet. Both dishes were topped with cress in a futile attempt to disguise what was beneath. The wine was so exorbitantly priced that we stuck to beer and water. One star for the piano."

"I don't know why there aren't more positive reviews for this place, but we just discovered it last night after living around the corner for almost a year. Small restaurant, small menu, tons of charm and delicious food. We didn't find the service to be too slow at all, on the contrary we were immediately served drinks once we sat down and were paid attention to costantly, with proper time in between courses to enjoy the wine and experience. Chef came to the table to greet us himself. I had their special for starter, beautifully seared scallops with saffron rissoto (could have gotten it for main too, was amazing , and entrecote for dinner. My husband had their garlic potato soup (heavenly and cordon bleu (crowd pleaser I think!! . Portions were perfect, and as others said their Tempranillo house wine was delicious. Will gladly be coming again!"

"Florentine, our waitress was incredible with perfect English. our table was next to a log fire with settees on two sides. the place was full of laughing and cheering. we had high expectations, because there should be a work function and I phoned specifically to ask if I could bring a coop vegan fondue to not feel left out. I was told that the chef works on a recipe. the work function was canceled because of covid and so my man and I tried it. we were blown away. the texture and taste were shockingly good. we started with an orange, ingwer and suppengöttin. salat as second cure with delicious vegan dressing. the selection of fondues was simple, truffle and chili. it is eating all they want and since the fondue Cashew nuts based there was no saturated fat. what? healthy fondue?! go there, but book them months in advance if they want a Friday or Saturday. the restaurant is only opened in winter so perfect after skiing. the ambiente is as much as a "pre ski chalet." there were large and small groups such a real mix. two birthdays were so happy last night. a certain of daniel and me."

"Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food! What more could you want? I had enjoyed the food when my department had their annual meal here in Fall 2014, and I have been curious to try their cuisine outside of a preset menu, as I have heard so many good things from friends. Zum Goldenes Fass did not disappoint! The 3-course surprise menu was perfectly balanced and left us feeling comfortably full and happy. We ordered a bottle of wine, which I found to be a bit pricey even with the cheapest bottle on the menu, but this aside, I think the meal was very reasonably priced (for Switzerland.) The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming, mixed in with a lovely informality. All in all, an excellent meal and I will certainly be returning again!"
