"Nice and quiet view on the bay (public pool in front, can be loud is pool is full?!)Service is heart fell by owner with nice cheese board as a starter. There is no menu card and the "captain" is service and cooking all alone which might make the whole thing a bit slow. As it was a quiet evening we really enjoyed and Captain took time for a small talk.Recommended dish: local rice-fish pan. Served in a big pot and full of seafood in a red sauce with rice (little sharp)Dessert is pineapple cake made by grantmother of the owner. Very nice!"

"We arrived at about noon, the waitress welcomed us and at our request she prepared a table on the seasite terrace. We ordered soup of the day, a local fish soup 3/5, as starter we choose Octopus 4/5 and my wife went for the maincourse for the grilled rock fish 4/5, I ordered grilled baracuda 5/5. Dessert: Local beancake 4/5, drinks: green tea 3/5 and espresso 5/5. Note: the rockfish itself was very fine but the kitchen didn't spread out the salt equally over the fish, so some parts were far to salty, other parts were fine. We believe this reataurant is a very good place for fresh fish lovers. The fishermans port is just in front!"

"We were staying close by and tried this gem of a restaurant on Sunday afternoon. As some of other reviews have stated we were greeted by the very friendly owner who welcomed us and our 10 month old Son at this very family friendly restaurant. They were cooking from the BBQ on this day and the owner came round with a selection of fish we could have cooked (to perfection My wife and I choose one each and they were cooked by the excellent chef (Josè While we were waiting for our fish we were served some very freshly cooked bread which came with some lovely local cheese Its important for us that a restaurant is family friendly and in pleased to say this place was great. All the staff were so attentive to our needs as a family. Like others she said, we didn't see a menu or prices but I'm sure we saw one near the entrance if you want to choose something instead of the chefs recommendation. I'm pleased to say our meals were delicious and served with a fresh salad and potatoes. Dessert was a lovely homemade chocolate and the house white wine was very drinkable and good value too. We didnt know how much it would be but we were pleasantly surprised that all this came to just over €40 for the 2 of us. It was one of the meal highlights of our holiday and I can really recommend Vinha Da Rocha! The owners English was limited (but much better than my Portuguese! and we got by with a lot of hand gestures. Cant wait to return! Looking forward to returning again soon!"

"We should have checked the reviews properly before going here. I believe most of the good reviews came from Germans and they apparently do not have great taste! Everything had to be ordered at once which is annoying. The food was diabolical to say the least. We got the mixed starter and finished off with the pasta with prawns and a mango prawn salad. The mixed starter was a mix of everything weird from Indian food to Portuguese to British. The pasta was mixed with a curry paste and made absolutely no sense to any taste buds "
