"The Heartwood Cafe has the grandma vibes down-pat. The only thing that's missing is receiving a knitted sweater after being seated. The restaurant is decorated with vintage pieces, such as a typewriter, tacky old cans and dusty books. I ordered your classic eggs with bacon and toast, which really hit the spot. Wasn't a big fan of their homade ketchup though. If I'm ever in Medicine Hat again (which I'm doubtful about) I will definitely visit this granny pad once more."

"We were on our way to Calgary and decided to try Perkins for lunch/breakfast in Medicine Hat. It was an easy find from the TransCanada Hwy. Our server was pleasant and quick to acknowledge us after we were seated quickly by the hostess. My husband ordered the Chicken Strip Melt and I chose Build-A-Breakfast of Eggs, sausage, hash browns and buttered toast. All were cooked to order and tasty. We have Perkins' Restaurants in FL, but haven't eaten in one in years. This was a very pleasant experience. Good Coffee too."

"Wow! An amazing transformation of what used to be Tim Horton's downtown. It has a clean, modern look, which is very appealing. I had their London Fog tea and a gluten-free peanut butter cookie; both were very, very good! For those people who are gluten-free, there is an appealing variety of baked goods. ?"

"Very nice place for a light lunch. The sparkling rhubarb lemonade was tart and flavorful. Broccoli soup was creamy and seasoned perfectly. I also had a shortbread cookie, tasted like Christmas.
