"After a half day on the crowded beach at Lucrino and at the end of our month-long sojourn in the southern parts of bell 'Italia, our family of five was looking for quietude and refinement. De Gustibus, which I found by chance, exceeded our expectations. A beautiful young girl, perhaps the proprietor 's daughter, greeted us warmly and aroused her father (probably from sleep) for this was the peak of the Mezzogiorno 's afternoon rest time. My wife and I had three children to nourish: ages 12, 10, and 5. Our request for mussels and clams with fresh bread and a salad could not have been fulfilled more pleasantly by this fine man (pictured in the photos provided by other travelers). The white wine was, as all the best whites tend to be in Campagna, di locale (local wine of no label), crisp, refreshing, and not needing to bow to any other labeled wine. We may have had some pasta, but I cannot now remember. In fact, we ordered a second serving of mussels as the afternoon waned and all were happy to linger as we had the beautiful establishment to ourselves. There was coffee and desert prior to our trip back to Vomero. The view of Lago di Fusaro, the sea, and Ischia beyond are not forgotten easily. My log book recorded a 66 Euro expenditure including a healthy American tip of 20%. Somehow, I feel as if we received the better end of the deal. Highly recommended from a man who lived in Italy for two years!"
