"$45 for a medium winter melon soup is on the high side for me. Should be around $30. Their chicken stuffed with sticky rice was also too expensive. It's just a chicken with some sticky rice stuffed in it. The chicken skin was crispy though. We had some other other dishes and they were ok.The Braised duck in plum sauce was not a good dish. Give that dish 1.5 stars and I love duck!"

"Brought my parents to Toronto and treated them to a weekend at the Ritz because it's their 55th wedding anniversary in a few days. Made reservations at Toca. When the restaurant called the day prior to confirm, they asked if there was anything being celebrated. I mentioned that it's my parents anniversary and they said they'd be sure to make note of it. I figured that meant maybe a piece of cake at the end or some small gesture. More to follow after commenting on the food itself. The Good Appetizers were all very good. I had the beef carpaccio and the soft boiled hen's egg with black truffle and Parmesan cream. My parents and aunt had the mushroom soup which they all loved. It was not your typical creamy soup but rather a clear broth with mushrooms, bone marrow and croutons. For mains, my mother and aunt had the spinach gnocchi, my father had the lamb, my uncle had the ribeye steak and I had the house special ravioli. The portion sizes were good and everyone enjoyed their meal. The BadService: for the prices they charge, service was woeful. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was fairly empty for the first hour of our service yet the server seemed to only come around every 15 minutes. When we finally were asked if we wanted drinks, the drinks took 10 minutes to come out but he forgot my uncles drink and when my uncle asked after waiting another ten minutes if his vodka on the rocks was coming, the server said "I'll go check on it". Be honest and simply state you forgot and apologize. I'm pretty certain the bartender was not taking 20 minutes to prepare my uncles vodka on rocks. Another irritant was that our empty plates throughout the evening would sit there for 5-10 minutes before they would be taken away. We were running out of space because of all the dishes piling up which is fairly unacceptable at a restaurant of this calibre and price point. When everyone was done their main meal, we started discussing dessert but it was 10-15 minutes until I had to flag down the server and ask if we could see a dessert menu and order some coffees. Once again, this should be offered to us by the server without having to ask. We ordered coffees and cappuccinos but needed just a couple more minutes to decide on desserts. Unfortunately, we didn't see the server again until 10 minutes later when our coffees were brought to the table. We all ordered desserts which obviously came out well after our coffees had been consumed. And to top off the evening, upon bringing the bill, they brought out a couple plates of mini biscottis. A few of us laughed when at the exact time myself and my aunt said, "These would have been nice with the coffee!"Oh, and about acknowledging my parents 55th wedding anniversary? Nothing was done but I discovered the reason why. For some unknown reason, the server discreetly spoke with my elderly mother and asked her if it was her anniversary. Slightly confused, she said no (because the actual date is next week) and that was it. Why on earth would he ask my mother directly and not speak with me whose name the reservation was under. The bill total with tip was $750. For that kind of money yet poor service, I would rather continue to spend my money at places like Jacobs, Alo, and Scaramouche where they always put a premium on service. PS. Just spoke with my mother and they had breakfast at Toca and said the female server was wonderful and the service was superior to the previous evening."

"We had the salmon (which was very good when a Ted small) accompanied by mainly Puy lenses, which ended very boring; my Lammpappardel had well baked lamb, but the dish overall lacked taste. Wouldn't recommend it."

"I went to Hapa on a Friday evening after trying to walk into Guu in Parkdale. The good thing was that while Guu was a 2.5 hour wait, Hapa had no line at all and I was easily able to make a reservation for 3. I was with two friends and we ordered the beef short ribs, pork belly lettuce wraps and lobster oshisushi. The best dish was the beef short ribs - the coleslaw that came with it was great. The other two dishes were very meh, especially for the price. The lobster sushi was $18. The lobster was essentially non existent and tasted only of torched rice. The pork belly was okay, the sauces that accompanied it were nothing spectacular - the spicy miso was not spicy at all, it was actually pretty bad.We were going to order more but were so underwhelmed by what we had, we ended up getting pizza down the street. Probably would not go here ever again. Too expensive for what it is, and the menu's not great.Cute environment, though."

"She came to try some exotics. Something disappointed. My duck breast was chewing, a little dry. the Comote has not gelled. I had a bite of my friends Wildboar. This did not give the flavors of Wild Boar otherwise very tasteful. Loved the idea of the game, but pure...covered."
