"One of the best Pho restaurants in Melbourne, period. You know this is the case because it is always busy and full of Vietnamese locals. Now here is a tip when visiting a restaurant of most ethnic cuisines- if those of nativity are visiting it, you won't be disappointed.<br/ <br/ The pho here can best be described as homely, authentic and made with attention to flavour. The beef combination I had tasted like home in all the right ways. A huge proportion of noodles, with a good quantity of tender, fresh meat. The chicken pho was equal in stature. We also opted for some iced tea and a Langan drink (fruit in a drink) for the ultimate refreshing and cool down after a delicious, hearty meal.<br/ <br/ Really recommend the pho here and it will always be one of our favorites, reminding us of true, homely pho.<br/ <br/ Food: 4/5<br/ Service: 3/5<br/ Ambience: 3.5/5<br/ Value: 4/5<br/ <br/ Overall: 4/5"

"I have seen this eatery previously on the occasional visit by train to Footscray Market: it has been here for more than 20 years.The restaurant was clean; the waitresses' English was poor to middling, but we got by.My dining companion had the pho which he pronounced fine. He was a reapt visitor.I had chicken with snow peas which was pleasant enough and accompanied by a side plate of properly cooked plain rice. I did not enjoy the lemon drink I had: not an 'Australian' taste.Overall the food was average. Price was actually a little more than I expected."

"Yesterday was our fourth visit and it will certainly not be our last. I've read some past reviews and just want to say something in defense of this venue re the negative comments about menu items not being avail and staff rudeness. Please get a grip people... In these pandemic times there are shortages of ingredients and cost of ingredients is higher than ever. We all see it in the supermarkets. But like many traditional cafe style, authentic restaurants in Footscray, Dong Ba, continues to serve the same amazing value food with the most delicious, authentic tastes. So COME here for authentic true food, leave your pretense attitude on the pavement and do what we do... ask the staff whats good today? what do they recommend? Dong Ba is not marketing themselves as anything else but authentic flavored dishes served fast, fresh and amazing value."

"Just to give it a go instead of going to the old school favourite over at Dinh Son Quan, we thought why not and we weren't disappointed. It was actually pretty good although why should we be disappointed, it was full of locals who appeared to not speak a lick of english.<br/ <br/ Tra Vinh didn't have any straight egg noodle soup dishes and they didn't seem to understand a word I was saying so ended up just pointing at Hù Tìêu mì tôm thìt khô which was a rice and egg noodles with prawn and pork soup $10.0 along with the fresh coconut juice $4.0. Tried a few other things also and finished with an iced coffee too.<br/ <br/ Decor is pretty dated but I guess it made the experience more authentic. This along with the service which wasn't too bad despite the miscommunication issue.<br/ <br/ We weren't thinking of making a return but it was worth a taste. We at least will know what else is available should our favourite Dinh Son Quan shuts up shop. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!"

"This place has some nice pre-cooked home-style Vietnamese dishes displayed in the hot food section. In fact it is quite convenient to buy a couple of dishes to bring home and eat with rice. The pork mince paper rice-roll "banh cuon" is particularly popular. The sour fish soup is also nice. And don't forget the Vietnamese iced coffee with milk "cafe sua da". But don't expect silver cutlery or clothed tables, the place is rather basic !"

"Doesnt look like much on first appearance and the staff dont speak much english but what they lack in that they make up for insanely tasty food. Made my day week and month coming here and tasting the sweet sweet dumplings. I wanted to go...out the back in the kitchen and hug the chef but I restrained from doing so. Would highly recommend when in melbourne or even victoria stopping past and enjoying the taste sensation experience."

"Not sure why this shop keeps popping up in google when I search for best pho in Melbourne. To be the best, it's quite a long way to go, plus the service is non-existent. They even told us that we have to pay them exactly since their register is not operational."
