"The restaurant looks interesting as it was always packed full of people when I walked past. So I decided to order a simple takaway food from Bangkok Bites for Sunday night. Crab and Prawn Fried Rice and Crying Tiger. Pretty standard items but it cost $29.90. <br>

Both servings were very generous and the ingredients were very fresh. Especially generous with four big, plump and juicy prawns and plentiful crab meat! The beef also tasted fresh and tender. What let both dishes down is the flavour. <br>

I love authentic Thai taste and also some well done modern Australian Thai but these two dishes did not taste right. They did not have an authentic Thai flavour albeit the restaurant is called Bangkok Bites. <br>

The sauce they used for fried rice and beef marinate are both very sweet. What I expected from Crab Fried Rice is a fluffy light flavour but the fried rice was somewhat oily, texture slightly gluggy and the heavy strong flavour of the sauce was overpowering the delicate crab meat taste. The dipping sauce for Crying Tiger was also too sweet and sticky with not enough sour and salty taste, although it has slight bite of spiciness. The balance was way off. <br>

Bangkok Bites is certainly accustomed to Australian taste but definitely one of my least favourite. So I probably won't try again as the flavours are really not for me."

"A lovely evening with okay food. The service was really good and the ambiance was vibrant. They were very accommodating for my dietary needs. I ordered the Vegetarian Rice Paper Rolls (they are vegan too), they were really fresh and light with the peanut sauce complimenting it well. A great way to start the evening. My friends both ordered Salt and Pepper Squid and Quail in Spicy Salt. According to them the salt and pepper squid was a bit bland but the quail was amazing.<br>
For main course I had Stir-Fried Vegetables with Garlic sauce (Vegan), i was disappointed as the vegetables were literally drenched in the oily sauce, the flavour was good but there was waaaay to much and it spoiled the beautiful vegetables. <br>
My friends for main had Roast Duck salad and Twice Cooked Duck with Shittake and Noodles. Apparently the Roast duck salad was nice but the salad lacked seasoning but the Twice cooked Duck was really delicious and super filling. <br>

"We ordered a takeaway prawn and vegetable stir fry. The vegetables were a large amount of onion and mushroom. No others. It was also full of horrible garlic from a jar and it was sweet. It was the worst takeaway food of any kind we have ever had. A disgraceful performance."

"I've been a vegetarian for around years, and I've been coming to Green Gourmet for around most frequently for yum cha. The yum cha food is delicious and varied I can't think of a dish I haven't liked, and dishes are generally...hot and fresh. The difficulty is with the service, which can range from indifferent to infuriating. There are two main problems that I've observed with the yum cha service: Failure to offer food to all tables. Today we were seated close to the kitchen, and we did well. Other times we've been seated far from the kitchen, and had to watch as numerous trays and multiple dishes go to the same tables over and over, leaving us with nothing. Even more aggravating, though, is when the staff members decide arbitrarily that you've had enough (I presume and just stop coming to your table on one of those occasions the staff member was so determined to ignore my existence that she would not even make eye contact, and it was only when a customer at another table drew attention to us that we got more food. On other occasions we've given up and left hungry. Short period of offering. We always aim to get to Green Gourmet at the time they open, because even when you do, at some point they will just stop bringing out yum cha dishes. Today we got there minutes after opening, and most of the other tables were ordering from menus already. I recognise that it's a small restaurant and it may not be cost effective to keep bringing out dishes, but certainly it's even less feasible to offer yum cha to only half that small restaurant, and I think that's part of the reason there's hardly any food coming out. These problems are not rocket science and a bit more oversight and communication would probably make their business a lot more money. I'm baffled that these problems have persisted over such a long time. Probably I'm part of the problem because I keep on going back (the food is AMAZING when you can get some but I've taken Green Gourmet off the list of places I would recommend to others, and I've given up on bringing friends there because some of our experiences have been so aggravating. I even wrote them a letter about a decade ago, but received no response."
