"We've been eating at Captain Scott's for years and have never been disappointed. Your meal is made for you only once you've ordered, so you never get soggy fries or heat lamp fish. Other reviewers have described their quirky menu which offers lots of choice for everyone in your party. We typically have cod and chips (and oh my, what chips they are - hand cut, prepared fresh and so so so good)! and the dim sum box. William, the owner and chief cook, is always so gracious, checking that we are okay with the wait, as the dim sum takes time to prepare. It's not actually that long, but I guess sometimes people expect everything in an instant. Good selection of sides (try their mushy peas with a bit of malt vinegar - yum.)! This is really the best place we've found in Edmonton for fish "

"Fabulous evening at Bistecca. I was stood up but it worked out great. A friend I hadn't seen in a few years was at the next table with her husband & we laughed & told stories til they were done dinner. Charismatic Katie was there took care of me as I patently waited to my date & then after he didn't show up. The heirlooms tomato salad is fabulous, fresh & not too heavy. The bison cannelloni was rich & comforting. Perfect for a cold winter's night. The portion was large so I have a meal for tomorrow too. Thank you Charismatic Katie for making me laugh & keeping me company."

"Vivo Italian Cuisine Nancy and I decided to venture out for a bit of “Fine Dining”, and made reservations at Vivo Ristorante in Hawkstone, just off of the Henday on Lessard Road. I previously sampled their Gnudi which was prepared by one of their chefs...a few years ago at a Home Garden Show, so was looking forward to sampling some things off of their menu at the restaurant. I was impressed with the helpful manner and professionalism of the person that answered the telephone as he provided clear guidance re the menu, etc. based on the questions that I had. On arrival, there was ample parking in the large strip-mall lot that they share with Hawkstone Physio, Co-op, and a number of other businesses. We were warmly greeted by the host and promptly seated at a nice table, Nancy having a good view of the open kitchen where the meals were being prepared. The waiter, introducing himself as Diego, was attentive, and provided us with a wedge of lemon for our water on request along with a bottle of water for the table. We perused the menu for a minute which was identical to the one on-line and ordered what we had already pre-selected, the Filetto (beef tenderloin) done medium for Nancy, and the Agnello (lamb chops), medium rare for me. I was slightly disappointed we were not offered the bread and olive oil/herb/balsamic dip that I had previously read about (admittedly in a review several years ago) as we waited for our meals. When the meals arrived, generous amounts of fresh ground pepper was provided on request which led to the only glitch of the evening. Taking a small first bite, it was immediately apparent that the lamb was over cooked, not the medium rare as ordered. Bringing this to the attention of Diego, the issue was promptly attended to and even the manager came by to apologize for the mistake. My replacement meal came promptly on a fresh plate, all well presented and looking very appetizing. Nancy reported her meal to be very good, being especially complimentary about the onion jam which was not too sweet as can be the case, and she really enjoyed the accompanying horseradish mouse as well as the 2 large pieces of prosciutto crisp. My lamb was delicious as well, perfectly cooked this time, and the Tuscan beans really complimented the tender bites of meat. The vegetables were well prepared and presented. I read a few reviews that thought the meals were severely over-priced, however I thought the value was in keeping for this type of dining experience, and definitely worth a return trip if fine dining is the goal for the evening."

"Ende august 2021 for dinner with my wife, son and his friend. was 1/2 to 2/3 full and were sitting on a good table near the restaurant. our server actually set us down and from the beginning seemed abrupt, distracted and distracted. not rude, but stone. we ordered a bottle of wee and a high ball and seemed to take a dae and when she brought the wee she just ripped it up and poured away on three glasses directly before even tasting? she didn't say anything about her mistake?...or did she know? we are not weinschnobs on any wise and it was good, but almost sticky on the server part and she did not seem to care or did not know. if she had done that with some people, they might have canceled it. She never filled one of our wine glasses again, and we did alone, but not a big thing. we ordered our meal and again she looked at whyte ave around and did not seem to give really attention. she has asked a question and said what was that? my son and his friend ordered one of the plates and asked the server if they could swallow the calamari for glutting, as he has a mere fruit allergy. he explained that it was not a deadly allergy, but rather makes him quite sick. she said that would be okay. we ordered an additional appetizer of hummus and pita and brought our pita and hummus and then hummus and pita to go with our meal. it had two dips with him, the hummus and an unknown pink white dip. my son took a big swallow from the bath with a pita and then had a strange look at his face? he said he thought the court would have fished in it. we didn't touch it and when the server showed up one because later, we asked if the bad had fish in it. she answered, and apologized. we didn't do a big thing, but later I, what if it was a deadly allergy? the rest of the food came in time. I had chicken souvlaki and found it were chicken legs that were very tasty, but expected chicken breast as that is what 90% of Greek restaurants have served that I have been. Perhaps this should have been pointed out at least on the menu? my wife had the moussaka she said was delicious. ekmek for dessert, that was excellent. maybe time for some remedial training on the servers part because others than that it was really good, but cant really rate it over 2 due to this performance. not fair tipped the cook and all others get nothing because of their service"
