"When driving or biking the famous Cabot Trail, there are only so many places to eat. There are some places in Baddeck, and there are one or two eateries in Pleasant Bay, but options are limited. The creatively named Acadian Restaurant in Cheticamp is indeed one of the best places to eat in the city, but considering the size of the town this isn't really saying much. Part rug hooking showroom and part dining room, this homey establishment offers Acadian classics such as chowder and fricot. Our table ordered the mussels, the LBLT (yes, lobster and bacon), and the meat pie. Everything was good, but not spectacular. It was homecooking, so some details that would be caught in a fine dining establishment were overlooked here. For example, my serving of local mussels was generous but the bivalves had not been de-bearded, which resulted in lots of grit. The lobster sandwich was also hearty, but it was served on stale white bread, which detracted from the delicious chunks of lobster. I recommend you stop here, but stick with safe bets: meat pie, soups, and fried fish."
