"I ordered the fish of the day which was a whole sea bass! This was filleted at the table which in itself was interesting to watch as the waiter had great skills. But I hadn't expected it to be so HUGE! It really was enough for two of us to share and so sadly a lot of fish went back as I simple couldn't eat it all. But it was absolutely delicious. We didn't have dessert as simply no room for it after that whopper of a fish. It is a nice restaurant and very friendly. Definitely worth a go."

"We visited La Tia Kibis on a recent trip to visit the Mayan Ruins in Tulum. On our way back to Cancun, we asked our guide Bryan to recommend a local spot where the locals like to eat. He took us to Playa del Carmen for lunch at La Tia Kibi. We had a large group of 8 people total and the service was very fast. Our food came out hot and fresh and everyone's order was correct. Our favorite dish was the tostada! I also had the gordita and an empanada. They have all of the toppings you need laid out for you on the table. Everything we ate hit the spot. They also have a variety of fresh juices. The passion fruit juice is to die for. I regret not getting a second bottle. Many thanks to Stephanny for her hospitality. She was so grateful for our visit and we even took pictures with her. If you want an authentic Mexican experience and a cultural interaction with wonderful local people then this is a great a little off the beaten path place to grab a bite to eat."

"We stayed just outside Carmen for nights and visited the centre for dinner for of those nights. This restaurant ended up being the best place we ate at the whole time. Tucked behind some gates off the main drag and all its tourist...trappings, this small, quiet restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. We went on a Saturday night and almost every table was taken. We had no issues with service and the staff were lovely. Julia was especially helpful and welcoming and, when we asked for recommendations, every single one she suggested hit the bullseye. We weren't drinking, so can't comment on the wine or cocktails, but they did advise us ahead of time that certain wines were not available and that the jumbo shrimps were not available. This was totally fine because we always appreciate being told ahead of ordering so that avoids disappointment or frustration> Before our starter, they brought out a complimentary crispy bread with goats cheese and rosemary which was super delicious and a lovely start to the meal. For our starters, we both ordered the garlics prawns which were amazing. So much yummy garlic butter and juicy (not dry) prawns, plus bread for soaking up all the butter (which I love). For mains, I chose the top dish filet mignon with caramelised apple and foie gras. I asked for rare and it was cooked to perfection. My only feedback which I gave to Julia was that the sauce was too salty. However, I often find this because I don't eat salt so am sensitive, but chef's cook with it all the time so become desensitised. She appreciated my feedback and so I hope they will take this on board as I see other reviews have mentioned this. My partner had the octopus and this was cooked beautifully with a lovely flavour. We chose the chocolate mousse (more like a hot chocolate lava pudding) for dessert but swapped the vanilla ice cream for their homemade passions fruit ice cream. Both were amazing! Yes the restaurant is more expensive than most in Playa. But if you want to get away from the tacky tourist restaurants and eat quality food in a peaceful environment with good service, then it's worth the investment in such culinary pleasure. Otherwise just go eat street food at the local taco places and don't bother with all the tourist places because most are rubbish food, noisy and poor service. The only complaint I had was that the plastic outdoor furniture was uncomfortable. This is luxury food so the furniture should not be cheap. Even just some good quality, thick cushions would make a big difference."

"This little spot at the new market is really good. We stopped by for snacks and what we found was that they prepare fresh and amazingly good ceviche. It is more like its Peruvian version. The tostones or green fried plantains were crispy and delicious. Very nice place, clean and close to the heart of Playa. Service was nice and fast. Everything is prepare right in front of you."

"During our recent family visit to PDC we decided to give this little gem a try. So glad we did!! It was recommended by the home owner we rented from. Great little place just a block off of 5th. We had the Hawaiian pizza(big enough for my husband and I to share), the lasagna and the gnocchi!! All portions are large. We all had leftovers. I'm not Italian but this place was great. Seemed very authentic. Great flavors and the staff and owner are amazing. Sit upstairs in the AC if you can. Will definitely go back here again when in PDC!!"

"Excellent Italian food. This is a very good surprise. There were 10 of us and we had a great time and the food was excellent. Best pepperoni pizza we ever had. I had Linguini with clams, ravioli, Is the best spaghetti and pizza. This was...great food at a fair price. Service excellent!"
