"We have used this pub alot in the past. We heard it had changed hands so arranged to meet our friends here. We were so looking forward to this evening, meeting friends that we hadn 't seen for some time.When we arrived we were asked what drinks we would like, my husband asked what ales they had, he was told Harveys was all they had not any choice? When the man brought the drinks to the table we couldn 't help but notice how black it was under his finger nails. Offputting when serving drinks and food. It came to ordering food and one of our friends asked if there was a christmas menu. She was met with an abrupt Yes but it needs to be pre ordered, it says so on the website . Being honest, having used this pub so many times in the past we hadn 't looked at the website. Perhaps we should have done, but customer service is key. The food when it came was really good. Sadly the service left alot to be desired. We had to ask for drinks when we wanted them and once the food was delivered we were not asked if everything was ok with our meals, (It was but it is polite to ask and good customer service). A lady appeared at 9.40 and said here 's your bill we close in 20 minutes. We asked if we could have another drink but were told no probably not .As the service was poor, my husband asked not to pay the service charge but was told twice by the lady that the bill included it. My husband said again he would pay minus the service charge (it is optional I believe). The lady went off in a huff and after muttering to a colleague, came back and took the payment. She then asked my husband why he wouldn 't pay the service charge, saying everyone charges it. This we all found quite rude. Sadly this has not left us wanting to return or recommend to others. Under new management we thought you would be trying to attract and keep customers. So sad as the food was great."

"Sadly this was overall a disappointing lunch visit using a voucher I had been given as a Birthday gift. The quality of food served on cold plates was poor, the chips were like cotton wool the burger was overcooked. Not difficult to have got this sort of basic meal right. Both choices of white wine were not available in the wine fridges behind the bar so had to be brought up from the cellar store. No proper wine cooler for the table available either so the bottle was put in a small jug with a few lumps of ice not good enough so we asked for a glass of ice had to put chucks directly into our wine glasses."

"After many visits to the pub for social drinking I decided to try the Sunday lunch menu. Good decision. I had the beef bourginoin pie with all the trimmings and wifey had lamb shank. Wow!!! All home made and cooked by landlord Steve and service provided by landlady Helen.Top value and great quality. Love this place and could not recommend it highly enough."

"We are local and ever since this place re-opened, we've been coming for drinks and food. All I can say is that they improve everytime we come here which is regularly! Today my husband loved the starter so much (ordered as a snack! he ended up ordering two!! Spanish tortilla, my husbands Spanish, and it was as good as his mum's, dads and aunties in Spain!! keep going guys "
