"Decadent set menu that you can make GF. They gave us a bruschetta and a wonderful salad for appetizers, asparagus and a unique fish as the first main, an amazing tender, and a caramel panne cotte. A very satisfying meal. The total cost was 88 euros with a bottle of wine."

"When we were told by our foodie hotel manager that they had their staff do here we immediately booked No tourist pretentious here, just plate after plate of shellfish and fish, grilled or fried. There is a menu but unless there is something you don’t eat it is just worth saying “ bring it on” and see what arrives. It’s not going to cost a fortune and it is all good. The white wine is good the rosado less so If I was to be picky some accompanying sauces would be great such as something garlicky or spicy."

"We were in Ronda for four days and nights, an unusually long time we found out. It gave us many, many opportunities to look at menus all over the city, comparing prices and selections. We chose to eat at Bar Ambigu all four days, despite all of the other offerings in Ronda. Our first dinner was eaten there because of proximity to our lodging. It was such good food, lovingly prepared and happily presented, that we decided we would eat there again during our stay. But, when Jorge told us that the next day's plato del dia would be slow cooked lamb, we were hooked. When we returned the next day for lunch and the slow cooked lamb, we were stunned to see that it was only 5 Euros! It was a huge serving of rice and tender, juicy lamb that was perfectly spiced. I could have eaten it again and again. We thought we should maybe branch out to try some other places, but after looking around, we kept returning. The ensalada Ambigu, the house signature salad, a rarity in Spain, featured mixed greens, apple, tomato, hard boiled eggs, nuts, asparagus, jamon. We ate it every time. One was plenty big enough to split for two people. We highly recommend the salad, but the one I couldn't get enough of was the ensalada rusa. It was prepared in a different style than the traditional style. Prepared in the Galician style, it was a much creamier, smoother, blended version with tuna blended in. Again, we ate it every time we were there. The pinchos de cordero (lamb) were sumptuous, tender and grilled to perfection, served along with a small portion of rice. All of the croquetas we tried were equally delicioius, crisp on the outside, creamy and light on inside, and not at all greasy. Together with four glasses of house wine (albarino or reds from Rioja) our bill never was more than 27 Euros and usually closer to 20. The extremely high quality of food and the low price makes this the best bargain of all the places we have eaten in two trips to Spain covering 5 weeks. You'd have to be stupid to not give Bar Ambigu a try. It is out of the way for most tourists, to be sure, but it is so worth the effort to get there. If you want to see how locals eat, go to Bar Ambigu. In four meals, we saw only one other couple of tourists. Experience the real Ronda, not the touristic Ronda. Thank you to Jorge and his lovely wife for providing four of the best meals we had in our 17 days of travelling in Spain."
