"I am really glad to have tried this place. I would have never known about it if my friend had suggested we try it out. They have quite a few options on their lunch menu and regular menu. The calamari definitely was the favorite, but I also enjoyed the fried zucchini. The Boston clam chowder was good, but I want to try their red chowder next time out of curiosity. Both the fried and grilled seafood were cooked and seasoned well."

Since then, I've had a handful of great dinners here. Secretly, I want to make this place my corner bar. It’s cozy and friendly, and there are always a team of regulars parked at the bar."

"Our meals at popular Enigma on west 10th have always been quite good. Our lunch today was not up to the usual standard. I had Wild Salmon on rye - I didn't ask and I didn't notice more of a description on the menu but may well have missed this piece of information, but was expecting a lox or smoked salmon sandwich, not a cooked fillet. When the menu called the item Wild Salmon, I assumed (too engrossed in conversation) it was wild pacific salmon but the colour and flavour seemed more like a farmed Atlantic salmon and I don't order salmon if it is farmed. Should I find out that it was farmed Atlantic salmon, Enigma may well be right off my list of dining locations.First off the dish came with a choice of salad, fries or soup. Two of us ordered the ginger carrot soup. I make and also frequently order soup when eating out. This soup was pleasant enough but the ginger was not noticeable. I have made better carrot and ginger soup. The salmon on rye was plated oddly and awkwardly: there were 2 pieces of break both built open face. The bottom layer had mayonnaise, a leaf of green lettuce (didn't have enough body for this, an iceberg or romaine would have been better), 2 slices of tomato and a slice of a big dill pickle. Overlapping and on top of that was the second part of my "sandwich" with mayonnaise, a grilled salmon fillet, and pesto. I tried moving the top fish open face sandwich off the bottom tomato/lettuce open face sandwich but the plate wasn't large enough. The bread under the salmon was a bit dry on one side so the attempt to eat it open face with my knife and fork wasn't working (and the tools weren't very sharp either). Eventually I slapped to the 2 pieces together to make a sandwich that I could pick up, as did another diner at our table. The flavour combinations didn't really work for me and that might be partly because I was suspicious that the fish was not wild Pacific salmon and because I had been expecting cured salmon - and that may have been my assumption and error. My Mother ordered a beef short rib hamburger. This was a braised short rib that was shredded and served on a brioche bun with sautéed onions. She said it had a lot of barbeque sauce and was more like pulled pork. Service was okay and food was definitely below the average we have come to expect at Enigma."
