"Small fun restaurant opposite Tobacco factory in Southville. Lively crowd but good acoustics so chatting was fine. Good very tasty mezze 4 plates between 2 people left room for a delicious spicy apple pie woukd also be fun for a group dinner out"

"Have just returned from having afternoon tea at Browns in Bristol . Left feeling extremely disappointed. The sandwich fingers had sparse fillings as did the two tiny brioch buns . We had only one small pot of clotted cream between two but two pots of jam to go with the scones . Everything was so incredibly tiny . The tea was very weak even though we left it to stew for a while . I had to ask twice for a wine refill and yet I saw 2 waiters standing doing nothing ! It took ages to clear our table so we could enjoy our drinks . The whole place lacks atmosphere and is very cold . This was my first visit but also my last ."

"I met my son on a late Sunday afternoon for supper and though there wasn’t any of the delicious Sunday roast left, we ordered from the menu and had plenty of choice. It was absolutely delicious!The staff were very engaging, efficient and wonderfully friendly. Thank you, Hen and Chicken for a lovely memory!"

"I booked a frying dinner almost 2 years ago in the bank taverne and finally tried the famous frying dinner and it was not disappointed. the pub itself is strapped away and if they have not yet been, it is easy to miss. inside is a beautiful mix of new and old and the pub itself is very small and probably explains why the waiting list is so long! the starter I went with was the hammock and it was great! for the main I went with roast beef and it may be the best roast beef I had. it is soft and tender and melts simply in mouth! potatoes were beautiful and crispy. my only complaining at my main course was that I had only 2 pieces of bark where I had a frying offer as most other places 3. And to dessert I went with a white chocolate cream brûlée, which was again one of the best I had. all this for £19.95 is more excellent and will be hard to beat at this price. the staff was friendly and helpful and ensured that everything was in order with our food."

"Had a fantastic visit and loved every second. The food was great, the music was great and so was the atmosphere. I had the Halloumi and Chips, and my wife had Hunters Chicken, which was the best I've ever had actually. Definitely going back again."

"What a fantastic place. Went here after a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Best Sunday lunch I have had in ages, very authentic with great ingredients. I had the turkey and it was fab, my wife only had soup but said it was delicious....The staff are brilliant, so simple but so refreshing to find such great service. Well done all, will definitely be back, thanks for making our day great x"
