"Our group has come to the Royal on the water for many years, the last time in March. As we all know, a lot has happened in the hospitality industry since March. At the Royal, regular employees seem to have been replaced by very young, almost work experience people. In this way the administration was forced due to the Covid pandemic, but it certainly leads to an unusual lunch. The work that paid for what was laborious and confusing at the end of the meal. Not as pleasant an experience as in the past. Food quality also slipped a bit."

"Well I found an exception to that. And in the best possible way. My partner and I decided to attend one of their cooking classes. After contemplating between Thai and American Street Food, we ended up settling on the Seafood class. And I'm so very...glad we did. I loved the instruction from the chef/teacher, and I personally learned a few things, not only with prepping, but with taste combinations, and cooking techniques. For example, I didn't even know let alone contemplated cooking scallops merely in lemon juice, but I did it this night, and I'll do it again. And as it was early Summer when we attended, it was awesome to sit out on the footpath under a starry night, enjoying the food we'd cooked, the company of like minded people in the class, and the afterglow of knowing that the restaurant quality food I had eaten was my own work... with a little help of course. My partner didn't learn too much, as she's an exceptional and inventive home cook, however she loved the experience as much as I did. Certainly worth the effort."

"Previously Shilla, the rebranding added some more class to this Korean BBQ restaurant. As reflected in the prices, quality of meats were above average. On this occasion the soy marinade was a tad too sweet, otherwise it had good flavour. The seafood pancake and fried chicken wings were excellent, however portion sizes could have been more generous for the price On this Sat night, the place was bustling and noisy. Waitresses were largely attentive. Plus point would be the location and secure free parking."

"We come here a lot! Each time, the last is better - and always the same excellent value. We highly recommend the drunken noodles and any of the curries. Staff are friendly, and it is BYO with convenient BWS right across the road. Highly recommended!!"
