"We visited the Olive restaurant today in Corby and honestly, i think i just discovered my favourite restaurant. I booked the place via their website and i was advised when i needed to leave before booking. When arriving i stated my bane and we were given ample options of where we wanted to sit and i decided to sit by the window. We decided on having some Rose wine, to begin with so i had the Ombrellino Pinot Grigio Rose bottle which originated from Italy and was a soft pink with a purplish hue. A balanced wine with afresh and pleasant notes of cherry red fruit and slightly ripe forest fruit. It was very refreshing and we thought this was delicious, especially with our meals. For my starter, I had the Moules Mariere which was priced at £7.95 and this was a classic French style mussels in a white wine, garlic, parsley sauce, served with chunky toasted ciabatta. Delicious, i do wish they automatically gave me a wee bowl to out the discarded shell but the sauce was very tasty and i ended up drinking all of the sauce. A winner. My partner for his starter got the Tapas Trio priced at £8.99 which included the favourite tapes in one, honeyed chorizo, patatas brava and a spinach feta parcel with tzatziki. He enjoyed this and the tzatziki dip was very fresh and well-seasoned. For my main course, i opted for Surf surf which was pan fried fillet of cod topped with Moroccan spiced prawns with garlic, buttered new potatoes and summer Mediterranean vegetables. This was a little more spicy than i had anticipated but i thought it was delicious nonetheless. My partner got the Chicken Parmesan Pasta which was a breadcrumbed chicken breast topped with a rich tomato sauce. He thought this was a very good combination with the chicken being incredibly seasoned and the pasta balanced it out well. We decided we were so impressed by the place and ended up having a dessert so we went with the Orange and Amaretti Trifle which has layers of biscotti, orange citrus jelly custard topped with a Chantilly cream. This was delicious and light too, it was just perfect and well-flavoured. The only issue was it wasn't big enough haha. Thank you for a wonderful dinner, we enjoyed ourselves and it didn't even feel like we were in Corby and we were transported to Greece for a while. "I visited the cafe while at the park with my 2 grand children. I saw that the cafe did Jungle Boxes for the kids lunches. This comprised of a bag of crisps, a piece of fruit, a plastic carton of drink apple or forest fruit flavour and a roll. The fillings for the rolls surprised me ! You could have a choice of Dairylea cheese spread, jam, Marmite or chocolate spread ! Not the healthiest of choices are they ? What ever happened to ham, proper cheese, salad etc ? What about offering bottled water or real fruit juices ? The queue was quite long. Probably because it was a warm Sunday afternoon, and the girls serving were doing their best, but the staffing levels need to be increased to keep up with the demand. The prices are reasonable and the homemade coffee and walnut cake was really nice."

"Visited to lunch, as I promoted her vegan breakfast online and wanted to support this small local caffe. so a beautiful place, with thoughtful decor and a community feel. the vegan options included an all-day vegan breakfast (with avocado) or salad with quinoa or avocado, or jackenkartoffeln, which I had offered for all something and given some thoughts. I tried the breakfast of a day and the Quinoa salad of a day. the breakfast was really nice and included kartoffels, a Corby specialty! I get the feeling that the vegan options are not sold that often, as there is not much supply to avocado or quinoa when I ordered the salat and saw how I might start the breakfast again, but once they found some quinoa, the salat was delicious. a beautiful caffe and definitely worth a support (and they encourage to invest in their vegan offers"

"Went for lunch on Bank Holiday it wasn't busy. We ordered starter and main course. Didn't have any carbs with my starter so no need to take insulin. Finished starter and thought about main course and took insulin for amount of carbs about to eat thinking main course would arrive about 10 15 mins later. Main course arrived 55 mins later which meant my blood sugar was getting low after starter. Food arrived and chips which I had counted as carbs were not really edible so blood sugar was getting lower. Dangerous day if you are diabetic. I like have bought a sugary drink but that would be meant paying more money that I didn't need to."

"I only told the gentleman when I got there that I’d made 66 flights to India in 6 years so he had no idea that I would be testing the restaurant. The restaurant was spotless, and despite being in an area of Corby which has been neglected in recent years, the outside was well maintained and spotless too. This is always reassuring, and tells me that Ali’s taking pride in the restaurant’s appearance, hygiene and cleanliness meaning top rate food. In fact, Ali’s is the only restaurant in Corby that has Puris on the menu. The others will make them, but few people ask for these delicious deep fried gram flour roti. Additionally, some places have charged doubled £3.00 each, what Ali’s £1.50) charges, so this is a pleasant surprise. I had a lamb Dhansak and the meat was tender and very plentiful. My son had a Korma and it was excellent, as was my wife’s chicken tikka. The only very slight, tiny thing was the takeaway was in foil containers and these always leak. However, these were in a very sturdy plastic bag which didn’t leak at all. It’s not enough to stop me going back because the food is the best in the town. I shall be recommending this to my family and friends, and I shall certainly visit when the restaurant opens again. You won’t get better Indian food I the town from a spotlessly clean and friendly restaurant. I highly recommend it."
