"To start with when I made the booking I didn 't really feel welcome, I was told that if outside was closed we couldn 't have a table and would be told on the morning before!!!!. Thankfully they opened outside and we were the 3rd table to...be seated, aperitif sorted and given our menus, the formula explained, not much to choose from, one of 2 starters and one of 2 mains, no wine list offered we had to ask for it. Then nothing happened as a VIP arrived, a group of 8, we and the other tables forgotten. We eventually asked to give our order 40 minutes after we arrived. The green amuse bouche on a black plate was unappealing, the entree and main courses were small but quite nice and nicely presented. The cheese with truffles should have been exciting but consisted of a few irregular uneven slices of hard cheese with tasteless shredded truffles not freshly grated as I would have expected from that establishment, and oil poured over it, with hard cheese!!!!!. Dessert was disappointing. Finally 3 hours after we arrived we left. Overall service was indifferent and strange to have olive oil offered on so many dishes. On leaving we expressed our feelings about late order and feeling ignored after the VIP arrived, it was made out to be our fault for not ordering, and his parting word of if you say so does not leave us feeling warm in fact I would go so far as to say we felt insulted."

"We visited Carre Gourmande based on tripadvisor reviews, but sadly we were disappointed to find that reality did not match up. We both ordered chicken, which was tasty and tender, if rather ordinary, and came served with a mustard sauce. Sadly, the accompanying herby potatoes spoiled the meal, being hard and undercooked. The visit was particularly disappointing because we are always on the lookout for places to take our vegtarian son when he visits. Carre Gourmande has a menu approximately 70% vegtarian, however an inability to cook the humble potato does not inspire!"
