"I was in town for business and walked around the city of Gummersbach - which is a beautiful small city east of Cologne. I walked around the the city center looking exactly for this type of place. I asked someone on the sidewalk best place for bier and schnitzel and they pointed me to the Baumhof. It's the ideal German neighborhood pub. The local bier Erzquell Pils was on tap and it was excellent, great atomsphere of locals that welcomed a lone American into their pub. The bartender - very helpful and cute Fabienne was very attentive and helpful for translating the menu for me with my limited German. I was told the Chef hunts on his own and had wild boar medallions on the menu. I went for the Schnitzel and potatoes and it was the best I've had in Germany. The meal and multiple biers only came to 15 Euro. I will never forget the kindness, hospitality and the quality of food at Baumhof."

"A beautiful restaurant in Gummersbach's old town. The service is fast but not intrusive. The dishes are homemade and very tasty. Stefan Schnell is a very good host and always very sovereign. His employees are also very polite and attentive. Just try it yourself!"

"I just returned from a delicious lunch at the Huelsenbusch hillside. The owners of this charming restaurant used to run the Alte Schlosserei in Engelskirchen, 9 kilometres away, but opened this new restaurant in early 2014. I am on holiday in Germany looking for a change of menu of meat, followed by more meat. We started with a delicous lobster bisque and I filled this with a wonderful bright sea-bream court. My husband had the zander with chantelles, fresh cherry tomatoes and new potatoes he was a very happy man! We washed these cans with a wonderful but reasonable price Pouilly Fume and left the restaurant plentiful without spending too much money. A great result round. I would recommend definitley this restaurant if you are ever in the area east of Cologne (Oberbergischeland)."

"Das erste Mal in Gummersbach Essen gewesen, und sicherlich das erste und letzte Mal im Brauhaus! Was hatte ich mich auf das Champignonrahmschnitzel mit Pommes gefreut. Schnitzel lauwarm, ölte ziemlich, Die Champignonrahmsauce sah schon eigenartig aus. So sieht keine Rahmsauce aus. War eine geschmacksneutrale schlecht gerührte Mehlschwitze, in der 2,5 ebenfalls geschmacksneutrale Champignons waren.Der dazubestellte Salat sollte mit Essig und Öl sein, war eine Billigsauce aus der Flasche. Ätzend! Hervorzuheben war, dass die Pommes geschmeckt haben.Fazit: absolute Enttäuschung!"
