"Every venue/ whatever starts with 5 ! We had regularly visited the Chase between 2016 and 2021 when we moved away. Definitely a for us. Lovely couple running it, fabulous scenery from the patio, well kept bear and lovely food. Today, we detoured specifically to visit for old times' sake; it appears the Chase is under new management. . Welcoming friendly staff. . Still a good beer. But: the food has really gone downhill. Two issues today, first off one meal we ordered from the menu turned from bear battered scampi to backed scampi with cajun sauce on salad. We did query and the waitress admitted there was a typo on the menu and kindly offered to get some battered scampi. Not good really as the rest of us had got our meals already. secondly, and this is the really dodgy bit, the food was really bad, I'm not a picky person and have never returned a meal, they really need to employ someone who can cook. I had fish and chips, most of which were inedible due to gross overcooking of both the fish and the chips. No excuse for this, they weren't even particularly busy (maybe word has got around). Really, really disappointing meal for us all."

"Went here for a meal whilst on holiday. The location is stunning and the building is amazing. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was exceptional. The pub was a nice mixture of locals and visitors. Very informal and great value for money."

"We booked an evening meal at Great Brampton House and certainly weren't disappointed. Rather than the advertised buffet meal it was a set meal in the restaurant, because there weren't many people eating that night. We were made very welcome and told that we could explore the downstairs and treat it as if we were at home. The house and contents are fantastic. Every surface is covered in antiques, curios and works of art. There are books everywhere too. I would hate to have to do the dusting here! We were advised that they do not have a professional kitchen, just a normal household kitchen and a cook rather than a chef. We chatted to the cook as she was preparing dinner, We had smoked salmon blinis with beetroot salad to start, followed by chicken breast with mozarella sun dried tomatoes, dauphinoise potatoes, new potatoes, green beans mange tout. Sweet was a strawberry cheesecake served in a wineglass. Afterwards we left the restaurant and helped ourselves to port and stilton in the Wedgewood Room, which we ate outside on the terrace. The food was delicious, served on bone china, with silver cutlery and beautiful glasses. Service was excellent and attentive. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the downstairs of the house and the large roof terrace after dinner. We paid £35 per head and this included drinks before dinner, wine with our meal and port afterwards. It was well worth it and we will definitely be going back very soon."

"A small ?20 covers) on the B4348 in the centre of the village of Peterchurch. Very good beef and Yorkshire for Sunday lunch. Generous helpings. Fair prices, and that includes the wine list. Charming service headed by Sarah in the kitchen with husband Steve out front."

"A great and tasty meal. The welcome by the Manager (Joanne..I think her name was) was very welcoming with nothing being too much trouble. The burger was very tasty and my Nepalese Chicken curry was absolutely divine. Presented beautifully and the chicken was so tender and the taste remarkable. Great meal and great service…what more is needed..??"

"We went to eddison for breakkie we had a full English for two cost which is a bit step for black bacon black toast black tomatos black sausage not the best breaky i have had in here before plate to small for food...to go on and tea is a cup to expensive for a cup of tea needs a good shack up !!!!!"

"Booked a table at short notice. Warm reception from staff. Chose a table in restaurant area. Very chilly with the door open. A few other tables taken. Starters were good. Beetroot platter for my partner was lovely, my Cauliflower Cheese soup was good. Mains were a disappointment. My sole and “punched” potatoes was mediocre, the potatoes overcooked, almost black. My partners duck was overcooked and very dry. The Cassoulet was tasteless, and again overcooked. Side order of chips were overcooked again, looked reheated. Didn’t stop for puddings. Service was good, would prefer if staff wore masks."
