"The Bergklause, on Schwester-Therese Strasse, in the Kiel village-like suburb of Holtenau, is the answer to many a dream. Well-cooked basic food served at the comfort of a candle-lit table decorated with fresh flowers, but without any of the pomp associated with many more expensive...restaurants. For years, this restaurant close to the marina on the northern bank of the Kiel Canal, where it joins the Kiel Sound near the Baltic coast, has served many of its maritime visitors and would-be sailors with hugely ample portions of steak (cooked to perfection), schnitzel to cover your plate, and a selection of chips (French fries), bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes), and accompanying vegetables such as green beans, onions and pickles. Choose from an extensive menu but please note that portions are always and without exception massive. There is a passable dry red house wine, but you will probably enjoy a good glass of the German cool and satisfying beer with your meal. Waiting times vary, but you can wait in comfort at your table, where you will be either left in peace or approached by one of the colourful local characters who pop in for the conversation or a swift beer. The patron is talkative, but has little English. No matter you are guaranteed a warm welcome. Finally prices: expect to pay between and Euros per person, inclusive of a beer or two. "We had helped this Sunday with a movement and were therefore quite hungry. The Balkan restaurant Adria was right on the way home, and since despite the early hour the door was already open and a parking outside the restaurant was free, we decided to return spontaneously. Operation About twenty minutes before the beginning of the official opening time, we were greeted behind the door by a waiter who showed himself a little amazed that we had not reserved. He led us into the background of the restaurant to the only free table. We just sat and the waiter came back and gave us the menus. A little later he picked up our order and served the drinks shortly afterwards, and later also the supplement salads. During our entire stay in the restaurant, his appearance was always perfect, polite and in principle friendly, only a smile would have been the splendour on the “I”. Food As can be seen from the name, the restaurant offers Balkan and international cuisine. The menu is complete on the homepage of the house: [here link] As usual in Balkan restaurants, the offer is very meat-laden, like the only offer without meat, I have made the mirror eggs with roast potatoes, which are probably acceptable for the least vegetarians. Tuesday to Friday, from 11:30 to 22:30, lunch is included, where a selection of the normal offer is included at discounted prices (8,00 – 10,00 €). Due to our activity this day we were hungry, and after a short discussion we ordered the “Gourmet Plate (house speciality different varieties grilled meat, abundant garnished, with rice and frits for 2 people” (28,00 €), plus an apple choir for Madame (0,4l for 3,00 € and a Cola light for me (0,4l for 3,00 €). The salads served in advance consisted mostly of white spice, combined with one or two pieces of red peppers and covered with a small peperoni and slightly smooth parsley. The white cabbage strips were nicely evenly cut and not too large, also well marinated, so they neither too bite-resistant nor splashed and very well tasted. What then came to our table a little later was a fairly large, well-filled plate, on which another floor was built by some wooden spikes. Numerous pieces of meat were covered with two portions of Djuwetsch rice, at the ends of the plate the obligatory salad dress with orange slices as decoration. For everyone there was a steak, a cipher, a meat scissor, a chopper and a piece of grilled bacon. Fresh, hot and crispy frits were served separately in a fairly large bowl. For this amount, the name that was ultimately on the bill seemed more appropriate than the name on the map: instead of gourmet plate there was "Gourmand Plate".... The quality of pieces of meat has been awarded over any doubt, taste. Even the rice was very good, but despite the heroic struggle against the masses, Madame had to finally capitulate and pack the rest of the plate to take away. Environment The establishment of the house was less rustic than it was usual from Balkan restaurants. The furniture and also the different wooden strips on the walls are made of honey-colored wood, the tables were covered with delicate blue fabric tablecloths and white middle blankets, which are covered with cutlery and paper napkins. The ceiling is lined with square cassettes in which numerous halogen radiators are embedded. Through several large windows, the guest room also receives daylight from the back of the building. Cleanliness The guest room made a neat and clean impression, the tablecloths were clean without spots or spots and also dishes, glasses and cutlery were perfectly clean. We haven't visited the toilets, so no statement is possible."

"The restaurant Löwenbräu is located directly on the Old Market in Kiel. Located in the heart of Kiel in the old town of Kiel, it is best to walk or by public transport. When I was on the corner a few days ago, it was about the late noon. Outside in the entrance area of the restaurant is a large table where the daily offer is advertised. That day there were roast potatoes with liver cheese and eggs. That sounded very delicious. So I entered the guest room and was already a little surprised how big, bright and friendly this room seemed to me. The guest room was lovingly decorated with many Bavaria Munich souvenirs. In typical Bavarian blue and white colours, the large long steps were decorated with flags and rams. I was looking for a seat on the window that was not a problem at the time, as the lunch time was almost over. This restaurant is probably operated by an older couple. He worked behind the counter and prepared the drinks and brought the drinks and the food to the tables. I got the menu to the table pretty fast. I stabbed them and discovered some delicious dishes such as various roast potatoes, salads, witches, dumplings and various carvings. However, as I have read the daily offer of roasted potatoes with liver cheese and fried eggs outside the entrance area, I have ordered this also during operation. There was also a small Alsterwasser. This was brought to my table shortly later and was very refreshing. I didn't have to wait long for my food. The liver cheese was large, thick and very juicy. Mirror egg was not just small and almost covered the liver cheese slice. The roast potatoes were served in a sepered bowl. These were fried right at the point, had the right bite and tasted really good. In the meantime, I was even asked if everything was to my satisfaction. To pay, I waved the service to my table. A little time for a short little conversation remained. Just before I wanted to go, I was still looking for the toillettes. But I had to go to the basement for a few steps. The toillettes were clean. Finally, it should be said that the whole time of my visit meets with normal volume party music like Ballermann in the speakers. But I didn't think it was annoying."

"Embarrassing glitch. My wife and I had an appointment with friends. For this I reserved a table for people. The acquaintances were there five minutes before us and asked for the table reserved in my name, at which they were then placed. When we got there, we were reassigned to another table at the other end of the restaurant with the same name. You have to know that the name is not common. Of course, every couple wondered where the others were. When after more than half an hour the problem was cleared up by a phone call and we all still got together, there was not a word of apology or regret from the restaurant. The food was okay, but not rocket science. The service took the order in the same way. Orders were made because of this? to forget"
