"We visited with a group of 10 people on Remembrance Sunday. It was very busy and we hadn’t booked (sorry ! however we managed to sit together and eat in the bar no problem. Despite being very busy , staff were friendly and helpful . Queue for carvery looked off putting but it actually moved very quickly . Carvery was great , very good value , hot and tasty . Brussels were a bit hard but otherwise very happy. Parsnips were lovely Yorkshire puddings were HUGE and very good . Thanks to Maggie the crew serving on the carvery who were very Friendly and helpful too!"

"This is what pubs used to be like This pub really is the heart of the community.,we got a warm welcome from the landlord/landlady and customers,with a good choice of 6 well kept real ales ,if your are a real ale drinker then this is a pub that is a must to visit,with a well deserved cask marque accreditation its the first time i have ever tasted Doombar that had been kept properly i usually stay away from this one but the landlord insisted i tried it, stating you may have tasted doombar but you have not tried mine it was lovely i did not realise it actually tastes so good... i was offered a sample of each ale to try...that doesn't happen in chain pubs.. the taste, aroma and clarity was very good..they dont serve food but offer a good selection of freshly made cobs to order. This is a pub that has got it right with excellent beer quality excellent atmosphere and i agree with a previous review the landlord is as mad has a march hare but this is what makes it a welcome place for anyone always smiling and chatty who knows his customers and what they drink,.....dog friendly with dog treats being given to every dog that walked in with their owner .....Well done keep up the good work... My offer will always stand ..if you ever need a job or want your own pub you have our number...thats how impressed i was from 1 visit of the way this management team operate their pub ........"

"We had a takeaway from here and can not fault it at all, from the cleanliness of the establishment to the taste of the food We had chicken tikka masala and mushroom rice Bombay potatoes and cheese garlic Nan break... "First time visiting. Table booked for 5.30pm on a Sunday, we were sat down promptly and drinks and food orders taken pretty quickly. That's where the service kind of stopped for a while. Food arrived almost an hour after ordering, we asked for another round of drinks as the food came, we didn't have chance to ask anyone whilst waiting for food as the staff literally never stopped for a second. Within 2 minutes we had another staff member ask if we wanted drinks, 5 minutes after that we'd been table checked twice then nothing again. It was meant to be a two hour booking, by 7.15 we'd only had one course, no one had cleared plates or asked if we wanted any more courses. We had to go ask for the bill at the bar. I will say, the food was incredible, my fillet steak done perfectly, the staff were great but quite obviously there wasn't enough of them to look after each table properly. We'd return again when quieter. Lovely place but quite obviously understaffed for how busy it was which is understandable after everything that's happened and the shortage of people in hospitality but book out tables according to your capabilities."
